Darth> What I mean by “real” Satanism is worshipping and committing acts of evil. Just dressing up in silly red/black robes, chanting some arcane stuff, inhale incense and look at nude pictures doesn’t add up to Satanism – really.
The conservative (and in my eye too holier-than-thou) Christianity has committed far more acts of evil (torture and murder) than any known Satanic sects.
Either side is wrong so to speak, to bring the Yin/Yang thing back into the picture.
Yes, I agree, I've always considered Satanism to be just what it sounds like--worshipping the devil. Funny thing is, a lot of members of the "Church of Satan" don't believe there IS a devil, or a god for that matter. You could also look at the Christian definition of Satanism, which is basicly any religion (and atheism as well) other than Christianity and Judaism. Seems pretty damn ridiculous to me.

i think it's funny that christians say if something good happens:
god did that, he loves us.
and when something bad happens:
don't blame god. he "works" ( or however you say that in english) in mysterious ways.
Yeah, I know. What I don't get about God is... If he was both all-powerful and all-loving, the world would have no problems. There would never be any war, or disease, or poverty. And the even MORE ridiculous thing is that the bible tells you to love everyone like your brothers... But when other people don't do that, Christians hate those people 🙄

omega, seems to me that you don't really have a clue about "real" satanism. Cause it's not about that. It's about believing in yourself and nothing else.
I think what she's saying is that the term is thrown around too much these days. There's nothing wrong with the Church of Satan, but it doesn't seem like it should be called that.
Darth> Ah, but most religions are inclined to view competing religions as heresy – which is punishably by death (OR used to be). I’m not entirely sure the Christian Church views Buddhism as Satanism, but it is heresy.
So separation of state and church – always.
Also remember – some “Satanist” church are really more in the way of wicca and witchcraft, as in old pre-Christian nature-worshipping in Europe. I wonder how the environment would’ve looked if we’d continued to worship nature.
Hm – pointless speculation actually.
Omega> actually...

It looks like there used to be a page about Buddhism (under "false religions"😉, but it doesn't exist anymore 😬
