That's in Europe as well, yersott. There are numerous cities in Holland that have. I, unfortunately, don't live in one of them.

And DVD is pretty big in Holland. DVD rentals have been here for over six months I think. And selling does well here. Hardly any VHS's to get, well, they are, but the shops carry more DVD's than VHS's. And now we see how the big companies are always ripping us of: even new titles can be bought on VHS for almost have the price they used to be. Thieves, I tell you, all of them!

Sounds like you have a simialr problem to me there queeq.

I will selectively "upgrade" titles, for example when I can get a copy of Singin' in the Rain then I'll have that. Unfortunately it has thus far proven impossible to get hold of since it's alleged April 2001 release. 🙁

Even in the States?

Well, I keep my collection posted as it is. I tape movies I'd like to have when they're aired. Once the recorder is out, I will continue to do that on DVD. And now I buy titles I have mixed with new ones or new restored versions. I got Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia like that. Still waiting for a European release of Ben Hur. And then I;d like to have Dr. Zhivago some time. Stuff like that. I do get DVD copies of Epic films.... although 2001 didn't seem very attractive to get: very expensive and no extra's except for a little book... bweeerkk. They could have done better.

I only had my DVD player 8 weeks or so, it only plays R2 right now, I'll get it "chipped" once the warranty expires.

Oh.... I bought mine new and chipped. That's what I selected it for, with warranty and all. There's just the problem with my tv...

Well you live in Phillips land, make something out of it. 😄

I don't think you can by R0 players in the UK normally.

They might even me grey area illegal.

and we are now talking about?

What does it mean to chip your DVD player? 😕

put a chip in it to make it zone free.

DVD players that will play Region 1 (Americas) and Region 2 (European) disks.

Ohhhhh

My DVD is a Pioneer. I'd never buy a Philips.... crappy stuff. It always breaks down right after the warranty expires.

like most Dutch stuff? 😄 😈

I have a Sony, though I wanted a Panasonic but could get one with the features I wanted at the right price.

Our cheese doesn't fall apart, but then that doesn't have a warranty period.

Yeah, but the smelly cheese... nobody want's that, it's already expired for a year of 20 😈

The smellier the cheese, the better the taste 😮‍💨

Than cheese from Holland is a delicassy?

I guess some people think so...I'd rather eat the unidentifable black goo on the bottom of my shoe..
