Ok, first... North Texas is waaaaaay better and nicer than Houston. H, was built on a swamp and it has too many refineries there. It also has a very strange smell because of the two. It always floods there, (I have pics of that, that I took when I got stuck there for a weekend because I was in the middle of their largest one ever) and the humidity has been known to go close to 100% on 100 degree + days.
It does get hot in Dallas, but not near as bad, or for as long.
Two, 'Dallas' and 'Walker' were only partly filmed here. Most of the shooting took place in Hollywood. A point I'm a bit sore on because we (I) could use more production work out here. Those shows also had no idea what real Texans are like. Tex's comment was straight on. We aren't hicks. There are some in town (just like any city), but the majority of folks here have no accent and a lot have even moved here from up north where they have found a nicer place to live in N.T.
We have some nice places to vacation here, Six Flags is a good place to go once every few years, and it has the tallest wooden coaster and now one of the fastest and highest metal costers in the world. There are also great water parks here that takes the edge off the summer. We also have the best Basketball/Hockey arena that just opened, and a great Baseballpark. (Not to mention the best Football team over the last 30 years.) And a world class Performing arts hall.
Now I will admit, it gets hot as hell here sometimes, although this summer has been mild. It usually passes after about 6-8 weeks. We have almost no winter to speak of (it only snows here once every 3-4 years) and winter is always short too. The rest of the year is very mild, and is great for boating, fishing, skiing and other water sports. We have a ton of lakes within 30 miles of downtown.
Now I could spout off abunch of crap about Europe that I've heard but probably aren't true, but I'm not like that. I only wrote this diatribe because I had seen ya'll bash Tx. and N.Texas long enough!
BTW, the Mexicans did not "give Texas up" like you ignorantly spouted off. We (my ancestors as I have said before) fought hard and died for it (Remember the ALAMO?). Mexico even tried to take it back and failed. If that's giving it away then I guess the Germans gave back France in WWII. 🙄

First of all the give away by the mexicans remark was a mock comment to Texas bragging. I am perfectly aware of Texas history. The Texans was massacre at Goliad and at the Alamo after a 13 days siege, the battle of San Jacinto where the Texans led by Sam Houston defeated the divided forces of Santa Ana. Sam Houston got wounded in the knee during that battle and the Texan had just half the force of the Mexicans, but they attacked during their siesta and the battle was over almost before it began. They captured Santa Ana, dressed as a private, and this led to Texas independence which was declared on March the 1st of 1836(same year as Arkansas became a state to the US) 🙂 Texas became a state to the US in 1845 which led to war with Mexico.
They're snooty...snobby intellectual sphophsicates. (or they'd like to think so) who don't bath and think everything they have or do is the best because it's old and falling apart. They're cities are trashy and gross and they drive ridiculously small cars.. They eat strange bad smelling cheeses, snails and other things made out of strange animal parts...oh..and they're soooooooooooooooooooooooo melodramtic.

BTW, invade at Corpus, or South Padre Island, Galveston is far too oily and the beach is too eroded there. Padre is much nicer and if you go during spring break you will see many a G-string galore!
