USH'S MATRIX GAME: FIRST ASSIGNMENT- 'Codecracker'

gulp....a death in our first run?

Ah yes, sorry, Rade, but you are in open ground- no Vertical mvoes allowed!

Ok, you Willow Step- noted. Bear in mind that doesn't work with Walk; still, you have the focus spare anyway.

Well, Rade, it means- as I already know what Burn's actions are as I am just putting into position the moves we did last night- he will hit 5 exertion in the round he fled. Which means he not only takes that 20 damage but the Agent can move straight back into combat as Burn cannot act the action after.

Alright, seeing as how this "simple" mission has been F-ed up THRICE now, i use (Walk of a thousand steps) as defense and as attack i run up to the nearest SWAT and use (Eye of the Fox)

Ok, Coeus, I'll do an Action Check on that one- which is what I do whenever an extreme action is being taken, just to make sure- you plan to stop running, turn and engage the SWATs in their vehicles, yes? That would certainly make the lives of the others easier but it could be harsh on yourself.

WOTS 'only' boosts dodges you are already making so I assume you will be making some- I cannot tell you how many attacjks you will face yet but it will be many if you turn and attack. I shall also give you leeway in using this 'use at start of round' effect midway as I started the round midway as well.

Incidentally, may I interest- for future development- people in Laughter of the Turtle, the Master level Storm Turtle power which gives all gun attacks against you -1 to hit for the whole round and leaves you free to dodge as well (because it's not a dodge, it just makes it harder for others to hit you)? Handy for this sort of situation...

Ok, to move things on, I am going to take Coeus at his word and have him turn around. It will take him an action to get into closing range anyway so he can still change his mind if he wants.

Next turn, if Coeus charges the gunners, the rule is if you charge people with guns ready they get a free attack on you. That attack can be defended against as normal. That's not happening yet though.

Ok, 15 shoots, six players, two attacks at least of you, three lucky people get three attacks! Those three are:

Coeus (as he is turning to engage)
Dexx and Cloud (because you Willow Stepped. Don't think of that as cruel, think of it as doing your part for the others)

Each fires four bursts, brace yourselves:

Coeus- I am assuming a dodge strategy from you as you said use WOTS, which means you can dodge the first shot easily. The oither miss.

Heph- actually, I think a permanent Willow Step for multiple gun attackers request from you left over from training, so you can do that...

They miss.

Rade, Willow Step from you...

Ow! One of them rolls +9! For a total of 21. 12 damage, Rade, as a bullet clips your shoulder. Damn it!

Oh dear, they are on form. A +8 against Celsius does 12 damage to him!

Better luck than you had in the simulation, Cloud- you are missed.

And a +6 against Castor is ten damage to him!

Oh dearie dear...

STATE OF PLAY AT START OF: First round, fifth action

Airport Area between Train and Carpark

Coeus: 11/0/2
Heph: 14/0/1
Rade: 5/12/1
Celsius: 13/12/0
Cloud: 9/0/1
Castor: 15/10/0

5 vehicles each carrying one driver and three assault rifle armed bad guys

Lobby

San 10/0/0
Mors 11/0/0

Car Park

Virus 10/0/0
Fire 15/0/0
Ares 6/0/0
Burn 4/0/4

Agent ?/00

-----

In THIS action, Ares open fire at the Agent, causing it to gain an exertion, but Fire starts to drive off towards the snatch party to pick them up.

Burn dodges the Agent's first blow- pushing him over his exertion limit- and then attempts to flee. The Agent straight punches Burn and puts him in real shit.

Focus refreshes in a mo, guys, so use it whilst you have it! The jeeps are chasing down and firing again, 15 attacks as before. Coeus, you have the option to charge down and engage one this action if you want.

yes, real shit!!!
well, does anyone remember what we learned in the CTF training??
i think it was something like
HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!
yea

ok virus if you dont haul that car over here now im dead in the first mission and that sux

It must be said, it was criminally unlucky that the one who went into that situation was you, Burn. I was hoping it would be Mors but he hasn't been posting.

Well, let's see what happens this action then we can get back to you, Burn.

ok sience it was sooo unfair what happened to me,
any suggestions how i cannot be dead?

Well, you cannot act next action anyway so no point jumping to some form of plan right now

why not, i thought my extertion action was the straight punched one?

Your action then was to flee, so the action you are missing must be the next one, yes?

o ok, well did i flee sucessfully?

Yes. But now the Agent will just re-engage you.

How far till we get to the car park or a car?

(Ush we have no weapons how are we to retaliate against these guys with guns. We werent allowed to bring any, lol.)

Castor moves and finds cover from the fire behind one of the airport transports.

(sneaking on real quick here)

(btw San is currently armed with 2 Glock 18s, since I never did get a chance to say that yet.)

San pulls out her phone, and dials the Percy's operator while running out of the lobby and pulling out on of her hidden guns. "Operator, give me Burn's location. I'm going to try and back him up."

(uhh, family's here now, I'll hopefully be back later tonight, otherwise Ush take over San for me.)

TpT you kinda brought this on yourself.

A) You shouldn't have engaged in that gunfight, there was no reason
B) Ush specificaly asking wether or you were going to engage, means something is up

The reason I have decided not to help you, not really like that, is because In one hand I hold the lives of 5-6 ppl (train crew) in the other hand I hold 1 possible live, San and Mors still being there to back you up.

Ok, to take things one at a time...

Cloud, it will take three rounds- or 15 actions- to get to the fence by foot. Not practical.

However, only one round- or five actions- is needed to rendezvous with the car if Fire pelts it towards you.

Castor, I know, that's somewhat the point, Does not seem to be stopping Coeus though! I should point out there was absolutely no prohibition about you bringing weapons- only if you planned to buy tickets. If you had snuck or broken in you could have carried all you wanted.

You are not actually on the airfield itself. You are in open field and there is no cover.

Those guys are firing again so I at least need defences from people...

Percy's Operator has finally graduated to name status, by the way! His name is Finn, and he is Irish.

(The Percy's Captain is an Iranian named Marduk)

"Ok, San," comes his calm voice, "Burn's on the edge of the car park and he's in a pretty bad way. I can't give you a good attack plan against an Agent but keep your gun out of sight until you get to the cars! You fire that thing openly and all those damn cops will open fire at you.

"Get out the Lobby and head to the car park, and keep your head down! I'll try and guide Virus to you..."

And so having that conversation and moving out the lobby can have been your actions during this time, San!
