Who exactly is Palpatine? (theories welcome)

Look, I believe in my heart that Palpy = Siddy, but...
I just sure as hell hope that George doesn't turn Tion Medon into Sidious.

with recent comments from GL regarding the sith and palpatine,
i think it would be appropriate to bump this old thread, and see if we can breath some life to this discussion once more:

whether he is that old, or a reincarnation, or conceived by the darkside,
i am quite confident that we will find out in ep3 that there is much more to palps than we have been led to beleive.

i was wondering when Yoda sensed much fear in anakin, did Sidous sense that Anakin would have succumbed to malign and anger and that eventually the little fellow would have ended up as Darth Vader

i'm sure sidious had plans for anakin the second he found out
he was force sensative AND undergoing unorthodox jedi training.
i doubt he even had to know that anikin was the chosen one to want
him to be a sith, being that the seeds for anakin's fall were planted in ep1...
it was a sure bet for palps.

Palpatine was likely identified by his Sith master when he was very young, taken by the sith lord, or...maybe the sith lord was his father...and hidden from the jedi. Sidious is the ultimate sith lord as fortold in Jedi lore...the Jedi just didn't now who the sith lord would be, much less that the sith still existed.

whatever his backstory is, it is the word "ultimate" that sets him above the rest. "the rest" meaning ALL sith lords past, and present.

what gives him this ultimate power?

imho, i think sidious is much like anakin, but the darkside opposite.
i firmly believe he was concieved by the darkside...thats the only way i can see
him being the ultimate sith. but i would love to hear any other theories on this.

i also think he will reveal this to anakin, as a way of furthuring the whole "i'm the only one who understands you/knows your potential" line he keeps feeding anakin

He might just be THAT good. He is a supervillain after all; wouldn't be much of a story if he was just average.

well i have always thought(soince i was 6 and im 16 now) that palpatine is anakins father. then it would be 3 generations fighting eachother in ROTJ. people would say other wise just because shmi said that there was no father but she only implying that there was no father to take care of anakin.
