anything that in not canon is EU.
EU should be taken with a grain of salt.
forget about clones

but it seems like a good twist. that he keeps on cloning himself everytime he keeps on decaying and all that stuff. now i feel reading those issues. What is Canon and what is EU???

canon is what is in the films
EU is everything else

EU=expanded universe

but this is a great story to do as a movie.

im sure it is, but its not canon.
its lucas's law, not ours

lucas. i wonder why didnt he direct the other 3 movies?

like your theory on palpatine being concieved by the darkside, PVS....good idea....

thanks... i think that is very much a posibility.

i have no solid ideas on this whatsoever at present....and that is one of the first good ideas i've heard on it....i think it's possible that he's quite old, and also possible that he was there when the last of the sith were wiped out, hence the fact that his grudge against the jedi is so phenominally strong....but with nothing to go on, most of the suggestions seem like eu to me (even if they are possibilities) and i include the official datatbase thing in that.....really looking forward to this history lesson....if i just stopped reading spoilers now, there would still be quite a lot of anticipation in that cinema come may.....

but i won't.....(damn!)......

No sense in stopping with the spoilers now- most of the info is out there already.
I didn't think Palpatine really was all that caught up in the whole revenge thing.
In Ep. 1 on the balcony he seems disinterested while Maul talks about revenge.

As for Palpatine's history, I have doubts that will be addressed much, if at all.
Might as well leave that mysterious. Leave some things a mystery.....

yeah, i noticed palpatine's disinterest in that scene, i thought it was because maul's idea of revenge seemed quite a puny form of revenge to palpatine.....considering what he had in store....aaaah, if only maul could have been around to witness it in all it's glory.....he really had no idea....he would've shed a tear....

i don't know anything about palpatine's past, and i don't know what the extra info regarding the prophecy is....i also don't know what the deal is with the disappearing jedi, or whether qui gon will be in the film, who erased the files etc.....these are the things i'd like to keep secret for the cinema screening....i was going to stay spoiler free this time (shhhyyeeeaaahh right!), but if i didn't know this kind of stuff, i'd still have a buzz of expectation going in....

mainly what i'm interested in now is behind the scenes stuff of things i've heard about, but haven't seen yet and actual completed shots from the film (preferrably footage) so i can start to get a feel for the mood of the film (the trailers should do nicely)....the other stuff i would really be better off not knowing....

yeah...good point...why is maul so bent on revenge?
i thought he was a sith newbie...why would he take the sith purge
so personally? hmmmmm

i got the feeling he was supposed to be not too bright, with a serious taste for blood....

yeah, he must have been pretty easily manipulated

I feel that Palpatine beat it into him, so to speak. Brainwashed him growing up. Has there ever been a thread on Maul's training?

My impression of Darth Maul is that he was basically like an attack dog for Palpatine (or is it Sidious....😉 ). To me this is reinforced during the sequence after he kills Qui-Gon and he and Obi are waiting for the barriers to open.
Maul is pacing back and forth like caged animal waiting to pounce.....

Actually if you guys read Darth Maul Shadow Hunter it gives you a little taste of Maul. He's hardly an idiot........its a good read.

JP you know better!!!!

EU is not canon

silly girl 😉

JP, it was originally intended for maul to have additional dialogue, where he even contradicts sidious...some kinda "i told you so" line. then it was dropped. i think lucas decided at the last minute that maul was nothing but an attack dog

Even without the EU I'd say that Darth Maul was an extremely intelligent being. His downfall was in his blind hatred, but also because of Obi-Wan's dumb luck...
