Who exactly is Palpatine? (theories welcome)

according to romours I have heard [and they are just that ...rumours] palps turns out to be a shape shifter and we see this used in ep3. It could also explain the fact that he MAY be very old indeed.

palps is not a shapeshifter.
there's no way to disprove it until may19, but
think about how lame that would be. then it could turn out that
mace is a shapeshifter and he is in fact han solo, and padme is actually
chewbacca....its a slippery slope, this whole shapeshifting thing.
even more so than the whole palps=sidious clone theory.

palps is sidious, sidious is palps
palps is human.

its the only way it would make sense.
the empire is like a sci-fi third reich,
except they dispise all non-humans.
palps makes the rules...so its a logical conclusion
that he is human...a very inhuman human,
but still a human

welll as I see it there are only 2 options as to why sidious looks like he does in ROTJ.

1 He looked like this all the time [hence shapeshifter, or managed to alter everyones perception of his appearance]
2 Something happens to make him look as bad as he does. {Yoda fight?? just guessing to be honest]

If there are any other ones anyone can think of I'd be intersted... as I see it either he already looked like that or he doesn't. But as you say there is no way to disprove or prove anything till the film comes out. I'm looking forward to it and just hope that we aren't let down at the final hurdle. Although I dont thinnk anyone could mess this up give the source they have to work on......LOL

i don't think thats what made him ugly,
but i think you are correct in that it's palp's dark power
that keeps vader alive, and he has the power to take it away.
thus, vader knowing he was done for in ep6 after he does the
palpatine shot-put. so i guess palps got the final F-U to vader.
