this debate is stupid and is what drives people away from punk in the first place. this elitist punker than though bullshit has no place in this or any music scene. punk has no specific sound or set of lyrics its about a set of ethics, whether you express that through the music of your choice or through a fanzine. your dress or nationality have nothing to do with it. and nobody bring up that "sell out" crap because the pistols, the ramones, and many of those other bands were on major labels.
That's right, darthjello. Punk is(by definition): A youth movement of the late 70's characterized byanti-establishment slogans ad outrageous clothes and hairstyles. That's pretty close. It's basically lous, fast-paced, little chord progression. Mostly Barr chords. Lyrics are traditionally political, but not necessarily. It's about rebellion.

exactly... hence the reasons of me saying their music wasnt punk. in all honestly you could call sex pistols pop/rock. pop is just short for popular and we all know what kind of impact that the sex pistols have had on the music industry... all in all where im going with this is that labeling music is a bunch of crap. granite i label music jsut like the next guy would, but then again i have no choice because that is how people come to terms with music.
punk IS a life style, not a music style. if anyhting punk is rock of the new age.
"society is a ***** of a thing when it comes to labeling"
