There only a small few that try to mimic the historical look, and even than their designs aren't like the real thing.

And, there are Superhero comics that are much more realistic than any Video Game.

And, the point was only meant to apply to a certain context, who cares it's a Video Game. Being realistic will not give it any more substance.

Actually, no, tight clothing restricts your movement far more than loose clothing does. That's why, if you do martial arts, you generally train in a loose gi - you have much more freedom of movement that way. Tight clothing is also much more uncomfortable.

And General Kaliero's comment about her not resembling a female ninja and appearing more American than Japanese is more about the fact that Taki simply does not appear to be Japanese. Her body proportions are all wrong and she's far too tall. A Japanese woman that resembled her would be very uncommon.

We shouldn't even waste our time discussing this. Hardly anyone gives a damn about a video game character not being or dressing "realistically".

The point of this thread is to talk about females in games that are hot. The point was not to complain about things being unrealistic.

And, how much you wanna bet that this discussion wouldn't happen if we were talking about Hot male characters.

In Soul Calibur's case, Namco prides itself on the collection of cultures and races that make up the game's ranks. But what's the point if those characters are not true to said cultures and races? Taki is the only one to be set apart in that particular way, which leads me to the opinion her design is pure and simple fanservice.

Yes, actually, I am. I don't particularly like Ivy's attire, either. There are better and worthier ways to make a woman visually interesting than just sticking them in a skintight suit.

Though I realize my particular mindset is likely the exact opposite of that this thread was intended to interest.

There's a difference between "loose enough to move freely" and "loose enough to be used against you". A rather huge difference, in fact.

That's funny, you have characters like Maxi dressing like Elvis Presley and claims to be from the RyuKyu islands. Yet, Taki is the one that sticks out. 😆

Wearing lose clothes in Martial Arts is a hazard. Similar to downing long or hair of any kind it can be used against you. Your safer wearing skin tight outfit than wearing something loose. Which is why MMA's wear nothing but undies when they fight.

Being a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I believe I'm qualified to know what one wears while practicing martial arts. And my TKD uniform says loose is the way to go. Straight sleeves and legs, loose enough so that no matter the position the cloth won't catch on your elbows or knees, and stop your movement in an awkward and often painful way.

Because a kimono is extremely easy to sneak around in, right. All that dragging cloth isn't a detriment to stealth at all.

With the case of taki.. I've found her alternate outfit more realistic...(the black n white one) even though she dont wear any freakin pants XD

you can also consider her first outfit as stretchy lycra material that moves as much as she needs, but causes a distraction to her enemies.. though it is indeed a bit too modern for someone supposedly from the feudal japan era

but hey.. its creative freedom.. we may as well start complaining that we have to fight a living fire that knows every single weapon art in the world.. /shrug

I'm pretty sure ashtar means that their job was to not look like a killer.. but instead perform sexual acts (depending if their target was a dude or not) and then either kill them or whatever their mission objective states
