Goyer & Murphy Interviewed at Comic-Con

(Saturday, July 24th 2004) Warner Bros. Pictures kicked-off the Batman Begins campaign on Friday at Comic-Con International 2004 in San Diego, and star Cillian Murphy (Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow) and the film's writer, David Goyer, were there to talk about the project. Although no footage from the film was shown, Superhero Hype! has learned that the teaser trailer will hit theaters with Alien vs. Predator on August 13th, and you can expect the teaser poster during the month of August as well. Here are Goyer and Murphy! - Interview: Supherohype.com > Batman Hype > COMIC-CON: Goyer & Murphy on Batman Begins!

First Image of Murphy as Dr. Jonathan Crane (at Comic-Con)

(Saturday, July 24th 2004) 'IANS325' scanned this first look at Cillian Murphy as Dr. Jonathan Crane in Batman Begins. The picture was handed out at Comic-Con yesterday. 'SuperAdam87' has more on the event...

After the Batman Begins panel, there was a signing at the DC booth. I was one who attended and asked Cillian Murphy how much more he needed to film, and he said he finished on Monday. I asked David Goyer on the status of the teaser trailer and he said that we should look for it next month. So, I guess those Alien vs. Predator rumors may be true. They had two pictures to sign. One was a brand new one of Cillian as Jonathan Crane and the second was just the logo from the site. - Image: COMIC-CON: Pic of Murphy as Dr. Jonathan Crane - (Note: This image is not available at Warner Bros. Official Batman Begins Site yet)

Teaser Trailer Released Online

(Thursday, July 29th 2004) Warner Bros. has just updated the official Batman Begins website with a first look at the new teaser trailer! Go check it out in all three formats at the link above. - (Note: Site's organization has improved by dividing it into sections for images, trailer, and updates below the movie's logo)

Exclusive Chicago Set Report

(Saturday, July 31st 2004) Scooper 'StarzGuy' was able to witness the filming of Batman Begins in Chicago on Friday and sent in an exclusive report, including pictures!

Like many workers in downtown Chicago, we received a notice from "The Intimidation Game" location manager that filming was to take place Friday thru Sunday on Lower Wacker Drive (and surrounding streets), from 7 PM to 5AM each day. I went down to Lower Wacker and N. Michigan, and saw the movie location no parking signs posted. Lower Wacker borders the Chicago River, so one could have a vantage point from the State Street Bridge if need be. - Images & Description: Exclusive Batman Begins Chicago Set Report!

More on the Chicago Set

(Sunday, August 1st 2004) 'Munier Sharrieff' also got a glimpse of the Batman Begins filming in Chicago and sent in this report...

Just got back home from an all night view of filming on "Batman Begins". Action started around 12:30 am with test runs of the Tumbler/Batmobile and two GCPD black and whites on Lower Wacker near Dearborn. A p.a. told my friend and I that a police chase would be the footage they were shooting tonight.

This new Batmobile is awesome, very scary and may I dare say--intimidating. There's nothing playful or toy-like about it. And the sound, it will haunt me for a while. It sounded like an entire pack of Harley Davidsons mixed with a swarm of pissed-off killer bees.

Anyway, around 4:45 am the police chase commenced with a black SUV serving as a camera truck. Several pedestrian cars followed. They made two thunderous runs and the crew wrapped around 5:30 am. I'm a commercial director who's been on a lot of sets/shoots---this one was the coolest.

Thanks for the report!

I would have liked it if they had made the funeral scens more dark. From what I saw at the trailer, it was just an afternoon drizzle...I was hoping a graveyard, with thunder and rain pouring down while pepople swarmed around in black trenchcoats and umbrellas...

Yeah, that was to be expected, given Batman can be seen as a dark character at first. But, it's a nice start anyways. Let the darkness of Bruce's revenge and angst come out later, then let it be dark then. During his youth, he's fragile and then his pain grows to angst. Light to dark. That's how I view it. Oh well, Punky, not everyone can get a movie exactly the way they want it. *shrugs*

First Look at Ken Watanabe as Ra's Al Ghul

(Tuesday, August 3rd 2004) 'The Tater' pointed us to this page where you can check out the first two pictures of Ken Watanabe ("The Last Samurai"😉 as Ra's Al Ghul on the set of Warner Bros.' Batman Begins! If you can't reach the article directly, you can also check out the pics here and here.

Also, 'Bats' wrote in with another Chicago set report...

Being lucky enough to work nearby where they were filming "Batman Begins" Sunday night/Monday morning, I was able to watch the last scene filmed for that night.

The scene was a bunch of regular cars driving eastbound on Jackson Blvd. until they reach a red light at Clark St. Coming up behind them is the Batmobile being chased by two Gotham cop cars.

Seeing that there's nowhere to go, the Batmobile flies up on the sidewalk, crashes through a bike rack, a couple of newspaper vending machines, then a fake bus stop canopy & then onto Clark St. going southbound. Both cop cars follow it, but one crashes.

This was all in one take & was spectacular to see.

Comments: WTF?! This makes no sense, there is a Henri Ducard and a Ra's Al Ghul. Two people! I'm confused for someone told me a while back that those two were the same person! Dude, what is up with that?! (Hmm...that guy could've been wrong, I had a feeling he would be. *shrugs*) Can someone please explain this to me?

yeah....

also, why did nolan make ra's al ghul asian, when he seemed clearly to be european, from what i remember about him in the batman animated series that used to be on cartoon network in the 90's.

His name is arabic is it not?

not sure, but i heard he was the eastern europe type.

what do you mean and what's happening on june 17th? oh what...next year right, 2005? hmm...there is a few possibilites of why he's two people, ducard and ra's al ghul. maybe those guys figure out a way to do a fusion like saiyans do on dbz, or one takes over the other's powers, or something like that. i dunno! >,<

can a batman expert please explain this in detail beyond what the tater said?

he looks like the penguim. how dare they call him batman? the armor is cool but i wished the bat simbiol more detached from the body u cant really see it well, also the ears sucks, and bat belt is way advanced it seems like a power range thing, it was suposed to be a bunch of small bags, and they are too thick or thin, i see no way how hes gong to pull batrangues or the shotguns thing he uses to fly around the city.im posting the darker way he looks i found out

but he looks bad enough to represent fear, he does even lok like that dog, hum......pit bull.
i hope the suit is cool in moves cos it seems umcomfortible . also is it true some times the cape will be a cg replaced? it seems pretty obvious that yes.

Sigh, you people are never pleased are you? I trust all of the changes they made were for the better. The Batmobile looking like a tank, Ra's being Asian etc. I'm sure the producers know what they are doing.

But, I also think Christian Bale is right when he says this about Batman Begins, (quote) "It's a cross between "Serpico" and "The French Connection" mixed with a really f---ing cool samurai, kung fu movie, and there's like some really strong '70's conspiracy movie vibes in there too! It is definitely not a Batman that you've seen on screen before."

I'll just go with that.

Well, the creators of this movie can't satisfy and meet everyones'/the fans' standards. I'm not that picky about this movie, although I do lack some Batman knowledge for I have never really read the comic books although I'm really itchin' to one of these days... Anyways, I love Batman ever since I was tooning into the animated series on Cartoon Network and I can't wait to see this movie! I would like to remain hopeful and positive about this movie. Yes, change and some minor tweaking is nice and good. Very interesting to learn more about Bruce's past and his early days/start to/as Batman.

Where is the yellow background in the emblem? 😠

parker the first batman suit didnt have the yellow emblemed background. thats why the JLA cartoon shows him that way, and i think in the comics he also have returned to this uniform
i dont know batman but i think the yellow thing was the bruce replacement batman?
i also like the yeallow better

Oh yeah thats right,I forgot.Well anyways I have just seen the teasor trailer for the first time and unlike the first film I am looking forward to this movie and it looks like this movie will erase all those god awful batman movies and it will be nothing but a bad memory.Unlike the 89 film it looks like Nolan understands the batman mythos and that they are pushing all the right buttons.good bye pudgy gut, receding hairline, half bald, short runt michael keaton. hello Tall, muscular, handsome full set of hair Bruce wayne,I mean Christain Bale. 🙂 Christian Bale unlike Keaton is so right for the role of Bruce Wayne.I am glad to see that this Batman team realised the bad casting choice of Keaton that Burton made since he was so physically wrong for the role and is not making the same mistake he made. 🙂

Well, the lucky folks who went to Wizard World got to see some Batman Begins clips.

P.S., Mr Parker? Long time no see 🙂.
