Sirius didn't die because of the spell Bellatrix cast on him. He died because he fell behind the veil.

Sirius will return because Harry needs some closure...he needs to know that there is always somebody protecting him. I don't think Dumbledore's word is good enough.

You can't talk to pictures, because they are in the past. The portrait of the Fat Lady is not a picture. I honestly don't know how to explain that, but I know that it's not simply a picture. I am wondering if Sirius can come back as a portrait, just like all the past Headmasters that are in Dumbledore's office...

it's not far fetched we actually talked about that. it is very possible since all the pictures at hogwarts are talking pictures.

yeah, i don't really get that whole portrait thing either....cuz if you could just turn a photo into a portrait, everybody's dead relatives would be hanging around....

I know. Bellatrix didn't as such kill him, but she was part of his death. Hadn't it been for her, he hadn't fallen through the veil. And her response to his death, the gloating, helped us understand exactly what kind of person she is.
Sirius might return to help Harry get on, but I doubt he'll hang around for a long time.

Yeah, i understand what your saying about Bellatrix. And I'm still a believer in Sirius' return. I'm not quite sure how, i just think he will. And if anybody ever figures anything out about the portraits, just let me know! Cuz like you all said, its a kind of confusing topic. But maybe we'll just have to wait for more books to understand fully....isn't that just the story of a harry potter fans life? waiting...and waiting.....so you can hopefully understand in the end? 🙂

Yeah, that is absolutely true.
But why didn't JKR kill Sirius with "Avada Kedavra"? Because there's no chance to come back from DEATH. If JKR just simply kills him then there's no doubt.
But what about disappearing behind a veil? There is a chance. It's mysterious. We don't know anything about the veil and what is behind it, and what happens to the person who falls over it. (The only thing that makes me feel confused is that Lupin tells Harry that Sirius can't come back because he's dead.)

Sirius is DEAD! period. beyond return. Do not pass go, Do not collect two hundred dollars. Nearly Headless Nick said he will not return. Nick admitted to a fear of the otherside which is why he was still around. Sirius was all about the adventure. The excitement of whatever he did.

His best friend in life "James Potter" Harry's father who is dead and not a ghost. (please don't respond with a James would have been a ghost if it wasn't for the spell old Voldy used. that was explained as a Shadow of the spell not the person themselves.

Anyways. Sirius would more then likely see death as another adventure and a chance to reunite with his lost friend James. Yes he cared for Harry and probly wouldn't want him to be alone, but Sirius knows Harry has great friends and a whole new family (Weasly's)

J.K. Rowling has stated in her last interview that Sirius was dead. and that any future deaths are not planned for return. He is Gone!

And I also agree w/ what Amy Black said....she could have just completely killed him off w/ Avada Kedavra, but no, JKR instead made him fall behind a veil, something mysterious, and unknown. That is what makes me believe that he could come back, the complete mystery of his "death"

To Amy Black: I know. The veil is more mysterious. But then, so is death ( please excuse that horrible cliché 😮 ) We simply do not know what happens to a person when he/she dies. Sure, Rowling could have finished him off straight away, just let Beatrix use the Avada Kedavra, but it wouldn't have had the same effect, it wouldn't illustrate just have suddenly Sirius dissapeared from Harry's life. The Avada Kedavra leaves a body behind. The veil didn't. The avada kedavra is a weapon, a method of killing someone. Veils are more often used to symbolize the line between two worlds, such as the ones of the living and the dead. Therefore, the veil works more like a symbol of death, than the avada kedavra could. Harry is taught a lesson about loss. I still think this lesson would loose it's edge if Sirius suddenly returns.
