Nagato vs. Bee, Itachi, and Naruto.
It showed us that compared to two high level Doujutsu users, two high level Jinchuurikiis are nothing. awesome
Srsly though, Team 7 vs. Zabuza & Haku, Lee vs. Gaara, Naruto vs. Kiba, Naruto vs. Neji, Sasuke & then Naruto vs. Gaara, Sannin Showdown, Neji vs. Kidoumaru, Lee & Gaara vs. Kimimaro, and Naruto vs. Sasuke were all favourites of mine from Part 1.
Part 2 favourites were Gaara vs. Deidara, Chiyo & Sakura vs. Sasori, Team 10 vs. Hidan & Kakuzu, Sasuke vs. Deidara, Jiraiya vs. Pain, Naruto vs. Pain, Killer Bee vs. Kisame (though I hated the ass-pull of Samehada changing its allegiance), the recent Naruto vs. Tobi, even if it hasn't yet reached its conclusion. Can't remember any of the other fights in the Ninja war. Will have to re-read this arc. >__>
Oh yeah...forgot Jiraiya vs. Pain. That was the first TRUE high-level fight.
When Jiraiya busted out the ultra big-ball rasengan (choodama rasengan), it was friggin' awesome! You were like..."AHHHHH! So THIS is what it's like to see a high-level Kage battle involving a healthy Sannin. **** you, Tsunade."

Nah. It wasn't. Was a good fight but it wasn't the first high level fight in the show.

It definitely was for me. Sasuke vs. Naruto and Naruto vs. Oro wasn't nearly as high level as Jiraiya vs. Pain.
You could argue that the first fight between the Sannin was the first true high level fight but it was between 2 "cripples" and someone with severe phobia.
All other fights were vastly eclipsed by the scale and power of Jiraiya's fights with Pain. It made Gamabunta's fight with Shukaku look like child's play.

I still think Pain should've won against Naruto, but then the manga ISN'T called Naruto for nothing...
Nagato DID beat Naruto. He beat Naruto fair and square.
He just made the fatal mistake of monologuing AND ****ing with the main character's girl after he won.

Yeah I don't agree. In terms of sheer power, Sasuke vs Deidara and Deidara vs Gaara have more in the way of sheer power than Jiraiya, though none of the three are as powerful as Jiraiya in my humble opinion. And then there was Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori, which was pretty fairly high level.
Well if we're talking just names, the first high level fight was Orochimaru vs Hiruzen, even if it has become dated and underwhelming compared to other fights.
Si, Jiraiya showed a lot of power in that fight. Pain...not so much. At least, compared to what he was showing later. He did only used 3 bodies and relied more on his shared vision and quick execution. Most of the impressive "power" came from Jiraya, which was admittedly pretty darn cool.
