Yeah, while it was a good battle for Jiraiya, the fight wasn't so much a display of raw power, but implied power, for Pain.
You have Jiraiya barely beating three bodies, but then, we see that Pain actually has control over 6, including the three that Jiraiya had just beaten, and three new ones, one of which we later find out, was a lot more powerful than the others.

And then there was Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori, which was pretty fairly high level.

Quite. It started in a giant cave that had collapsed by the end, and it had a powerhouse vs and old master each using their puppet forces against each other.

I still think Pain should've won against Naruto, but then the manga ISN'T called Naruto for nothing...

Dude, Deva Path by himself owned Naruto. It's because the manga is called 'Naruto', that Naruto himself is still alive and kicking.
Nagato would have also beaten Naruto recently, were it not for help from Itachi and Bee.

Why are those your favorites? Elaborate! 😮

Nah. It wasn't. Was a good fight but it wasn't the first high level fight in the show.

Team 7 vs. Zabuza & Haku - Actually was talking about two fights. Zabuza & Kakashi were badass, while Sasuke and Naruto working in tandem was awesome. For the second one, Sasuke actually saves Naruto's ass.

Lee vs. Gaara - You already know why most people like this fight. But it was also a nice 'example' of the whole Hard work vs. Genius schtick that would be prevalent for most of the arc. 😛

Naruto vs. Kiba - First time those other dudes get to see how ossum Naruto can be. Kiba got owned by a fart in a scene that made me laugh, so yeah.

Naruto vs. Neji - At least now Neji had a fight on his hands where his opponent could actually fight back and give a challenge. Plus that uppercut of Naruto's was rather kewl.

Sasuke & then Naruto vs. Gaara - Sasuke being badass. Naruto then being badass, and beating Gaara. Highlights were Chidori and Naruto giving a head-butt.

Sannin Showdown - Naruto using Rasengan, and the Summons fight. That is all. The Sannins themselves were near-useless, except for Tsunade towards the end of the fight.

Neji vs. Kidoumaru - Against his worst possible type of opponent, Neji still managed to pull out a win. Meh. Not as badass as Chouji owning the shit out of Jirobo, but I still liked this fight more as the proclaimed strongest Genin was getting his shit pushed in by a smarter opponent that could counter him.

Lee & Gaara vs. Kimimaro - Lee couldn't do shit until he used Drunken Fist, after which he was kewl. Gaara and Kimimaro were damn powerful, while Gaara was actually protecting Lee, who did not hold a grudge, despite the fact that it was due to Gaara that Lee could never have been a Ninja. I liked that.

Naruto vs. Sasuke - No need to elaborate.

Gaara vs. Deidara - We get to see just how powerful Gaara has become, who is now a Kage. And it is our first true viewing of the high level techs of an Akatsuki member (Kisame didn't do anything except use Water Prison which we saw from Zabuza, while Itachi used Tsukuyomi, and an off-screen Amaterasu...meh). I also liked how Gaara saved the village that had despised, but now loved, him, and how Deidara beat Gaara.

Chiyo & Sakura vs. Sasori - No need to elaborate.

Team 10 vs. Hidan & Kakuzu - Shikamaru shows us again why he's Prep-king. 😛 I also like watching Kakashi's fights. Too few of those for a guy in Naruto who is supposed to be a main.
That said, Naruto showing them up against Kakuzu was shitty. At least Kakashi got to own Kakuzu at the end, verbally. awesome

Sasuke vs. Deidara - No need to elaborate.

Jiraiya vs. Pain - Explained a bit earlier, on how this was a glimpse of the power of the strongest Akatsuki ninja, who had never lost a fight. I also liked the ending and Jiraiya's last words as well. Made him one of my favourite characters. Was a better send-off than anyone else had ever had.
That said, I wished Jiraiya's message would have been the thing that saved everyone's asses, not Naruto. Ah well, I suppose I should take some consolation in that it was Jiraiya's book that won Nagato over.

Naruto vs. Pain - Naruto quickly beats most of the other bodies (with help, admittedly), but Deva Path quickly destroys everyone once his powers return. That was badass. He also held his own against the 6 Tailed Kyuubi.
Still, the fight tied into the Jiraiya vs. Pain fight, particularly the ending and the talk Naruto had with Pain.

Killer Bee vs. Kisame - Both combatants were ossum. Killerbee was someone who beat Sasuke with little effort, yet he nearly died against Kisame. And we got to see Double Lariat, the tech you like to wank. 😛

Naruto vs. Tobi - I don't think I need to elaborate, do I?
We got Tobi's 4th wall teasing, Naruto being accepted by the Bijuus, the Bijuulings and their names, a glimpse of the Sage, and something of a Bijuu showdown that I had wanted.

I should have mentioned Sasuke vs. Itachi. We got to see Kirin in that fight after all, which is still my favourite tech. There's also the Kakashi Gaiden fight where Kakashi has the Sharingan.

There was also Kakashi, Chouji and Chouza was Deva & Asura which I liked. And other fights I cannot recall. 😛

It's because of Kurama and Hinata (BFFs) that Naruto's alive and kicking.

That's the proximate cause. The distal cause is what I stated. 313

Well for me, I tend to favor fights based on who is in them and how much fun I had watching the fights themselves. So I'll give 10, with an explanation for each.

10. Mifune vs Hanzo: I'm probably the only person who would put this on their list. I dunno, I just really dug the fight. I like Hanzo and Mifune now because of this fight and it was pretty fun to see a genuine samurai in action, along with a dash of Fridge Brilliance. The fight itself was pretty short but Samurai fights should be. Speed and strength decide it in one slash and, as Mifune would put it, "bluntness will not last".

9. Naruto vs The Third Raikage: I liked this fight because it summarizes why I like the series fights compared to others. Naruto can't match the Raikage in power so he uses info from a former opponent of the Raikage, a long with some of his own logical deductions, to overcome the guy with skill and smarts rather than strength. Also short but all in all a nice David vs Goliath type fight.

8. Team 10 vs Asuma: This fight is mainly on here because I like Team 10 in general, even though they do take the spotlight from the main focus a tad much. It showed off Ino's growth, which we hadn't seen much of, and gave us Choji at his best, rising up to become a strong ninja that has the confidence to give it his best and change the outcome of an entire battle. One person can make a difference at it's finest.

7. Naruto vs Tobi(Round 1 at least): Officially usurping Naruto vs Pain as the best fight to show Naruto's growth, Naruto vs Tobi does a lot of things right. It reflects how much Naruto has gone and the strengths demonstrated in this fight, in my opinion, are more satisfying to see than Sage Mode, which I think Naruto got out of bad writing personally. And it even has some genuine moments of Naruto showing off his cleverness, which was nice. Still, pretty DBZish in all honesty and I prefer it when Naruto avoids that route. All in all, I think this fight is a blast(lol pun).

6. Naruto vs Kiba: Reading through this fight again, I really dig it. Naruto has two techniques and yet he keeps coming up with clever ways to use them. Kiba is also a fun opponent and I really do like his fighting style, just for being wild. I like how Naruto shows that he is actually paying attention and uses things that he has seen, like clever use of henge, using chakra control from the tree climbing exercise, and copying a copier. I just thought it was really fun to read.

5. Team 7 vs Zabuza(first encounter): This was the fight that got me into the series. One thing I like most about Naruto is the fact that, unlike Ichigo and Luffy, Naruto just really is not a good fighter at the start of the series. In fact, he spent most of this fight trying to tag in someone else to do the fighting for him. But it was so clever, so well reasoned, and the results were so satisfying that I could care less. Sasuke and Naruto have great teamwork here and Kakashi gets to show off how badass he is, which is always fun. Team 7's first challenging fight was an A in my book.

4. Sasuke vs Danzo: Even though I hate Danzo, this fight was just fun. Izanagi is a confusing technique when you don't know how it works and seeing Karin try to figure it out is cool. And then Sasuke, completely reminding me why I like him, just renders all that useless and tricks Danzo into telling him. Hilarious. That and it showed that Sasuke, while being reckless and basically suicidal with his chakra, can still pull off some intelligent moves, like his genjutsu and the well time Katon. All in all, hate Danzo, really like this fight.

3. Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori: My top 3 fights were pretty easy to pick. Really there isn't much to say about this fight, it just speaks for itself. It's so well paced, the characters are so entertaining, and it was just epic. Chiyo pretty solidly becomes my favorite Naruto girl and Sakura sheds a lot of her weaknesses to become, in my opinion, a bigger badass than Tsunade(though Sakura is weaker). Sasori is also just a fun villain and it's cool to see him react to the two the way a villain would. First they're not much, then they're a threat, then they're not, then they're a nuisance, and then they're a super threat. And by the end you get a real sense of respect from him towards the two, especially Sakura. The only thing I dislike was the ending...Sasori letting himself lose was a bit of a letdown. Everything else was as perfect as could be.

2. Sasuke vs Deidara: The epitome, in my opinion, of strategic battles in Naruto. You can tell that both sides are being cautious, calculating the other, and trying to win with all they can. Deidara was always my favorite of the Akatsuki, and this fight really shows why. He's just got such a passion for beating the sharingan that he is willing to due whatever he can to win. And the fact that Sasuke just treats him like another opponent just pisses Deidara off more. Like the Sasori fight, the only thing I dislike is the ending. It's better than the whole "He let us win" stuff but only because it's merely dumb more than anything. All in all, this fight proved that Art really is a *blows up*

1. Naruto vs Sasuke(Valley of the End): This fight lacks strategy but it doesn't really need it. It makes up for it with pure passion. Both of these guys have been there since the beginning and both are willing to put everything they have into a fight that was worth every minute of it. It just keeps building and, unlike the other two, it delivers a fantastic ending with one of the most iconic images in the series. Great location, so very driven characters, and a perfect cap to Part 1. I only hope the next fight can outdo it. It's a tough act to follow.

Let me make it known that I also believe that Jiraiya vs. Pain was the first truly top tier fight based on what we saw.

Yeah I don't agree. In terms of sheer power, Sasuke vs Deidara and Deidara vs Gaara have more in the way of sheer power than Jiraiya, though none of the three are as powerful as Jiraiya in my humble opinion. And then there was Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori, which was pretty fairly high level.

Well if we're talking just names, the first high level fight was Orochimaru vs Hiruzen, even if it has become dated and underwhelming compared to other fights.

Si, Jiraiya showed a lot of power in that fight. Pain...not so much. At least, compared to what he was showing later. He did only used 3 bodies and relied more on his shared vision and quick execution. Most of the impressive "power" came from Jiraya, which was admittedly pretty darn cool.

Nah. Sasuke vs. Deidara was average in scale: mid-scale. It was only the final blast that increased the scale but it was just making a really really large explosion which wasn't really fighting, at that point.

Pain did quite a bit of high-level shit. The scale of the actual fight was much larger than Sauce vs Day. Like I said, the closest we had to a scale that big was Gaara vs. Naruto but that was a very very short fight and large scale destruction during the actual exchange was minimal.

As far as scale and potency of techniques, Pain vs. Jiraiya was the first of it's kind. Pretty much everything used was S-Class level: Sage-Mode, multiple summons, the scale of the rasengan, scale of oil-fire attack, eye-tech, the genjutsu used, the destruction to the environment DURING the fight, and so forth.

Naruto vs. Sasuke was decent...but not on scale with techs and destruction. Gaara vs. Naruto was a couple of immature kids that had no control over their own beasts. Sannin vs was almost getting there but it was very lackluster. We already agree on the scale of the Hokage fight. Just everything wasn't...bam...compared to our first really big fight.

Hell, Sakura and Hag vs. Sasori was bigger scale than Sauce v Day.

Shut up dadudemon.

I'd actually argue Naruto vs Orochimaru would be the first top tier fight of the series. We got to see Orochimaru make hordes of snake summons while Naruto blasts them away with gestures. Plus we got to see an actual bijudama which even Orochimaru had to take seriously.

Maybe it wasn't as high tier as Jiraiya vs Pein but it still was the first fight to be officially top tier. I guess Sakura/Chiyo vs Sasori would be pretty close.

Edit: Anyone else find it ironic how Jiraiya looses the only fight he uses his full power in?

Gotta love Kakashi. Trolling the kids without a family, lololol.

That's cold as ****.

yesssss! hopefully this is payment for keeping the faith.*

Spoiler:
so, itachi is being compelled to fallow his task, something about not stopping for sasuke who is asking him questions understandably. maybe edo tensei still has an effect or he just has more pressing matters than his little brother's annoying questions. susano'os clash a bit.

now the meat of the matter: hashirama is revealed to be able to pull off jutsu without handseals, pretty much what we saw of him during the orochimaru vs hiruzen battle where he just sort of focuses and stuff starts sprouting. madara questions that he's the most powerful shinobi since the sage, this pisses him off and he goes after tsunade (his progeny) who in response rolls her sleeves up like she is about to tear someone apart, and starts popping off about the will of fire being underestimated.(*) edit* (.)(.) ...... that's much better

dis is bawse status possibly, the feats we were waiting for

Out.

Spoiler:
So yeah...more proof for my idea that Sasuke really wants to die. That's fun.

As of this chapter I stopped hating Itachi. Also cool.

Hashirama now definitely goes into SS-. Dude makes Tsunade look lame as a medic apparently.

And yeah, Tsunade plans to kick ass. Sweet.

Spoiler:
Yea. Not only anti-army level trees and pollen, but medic jutsu in excess of Tsunade as well? Guy's a support beast.

Don't forget, he is under *genjutsu control* to protect Konoha from Shisui's eye.

Also, Susano'o vs Susano'o! Only briefly, but still fun.

I'm going to quite enjoy Tsunade next chapter.

New translators suck major bawls.

Big props to them for doing the translation, but the guys from Mangastream were the best.

Lol anyone notice how close Madara is to becoming like Yumichika? Flowers, dancing, calling people ugly...

When has Madara danced? Also I though it was ****ing hilarious when he explained why he wanted to kill Tsunade; "Your weak, a senju w/o Mokuton, and a woman!" Sexist much?

I still don't like Itachi even after this chapter, though it's nice to see him admit that he's responsible for the Sasuke we see today.

I really want Tsunade to do something spectacular and not be shown up by every Kage there.

Last chapter. He commented on how the battle was like a dance.

Oh yeah! Well Considering how it's 5 against 1 and they aren't doing much to him it'd be kind of hard to say that he's actually fighting.
