If Orochimaru could soften his body and make himself extremely durable, why wouldn't he be able to handle Hebi Sage Mode? Also Kabuto still looks lame even if he's powerful. and I'm really starting to hate this Uzumaki clan stuff, I mean c'mon even Karin's one?

I guess it's because his bodies couldn't handle his life-force for long periods of time. I'm guessing that if he had taken over Sasuke's body, he could have mastered Sage Mode.
Besides, Kabuto implies that he mastered an imperfect version. He had that transformation jutsu after all.

Kabuto met some Snake Elder guy and got some training. Glad to see the Snakes have more than one guy with brains.
Chapter ends with Kabuto revealing something nobody expects: Sage Mode! In his own words, "I'm no longer a snake...I'm a Dragon now!!!"
That was a very interesting twist at the end. I enjoyed it. ^_^

Also, I found it pretty cool how Juugo and his clan could tap into an unrefined version of Snake Sage Mode. I guess if you absorb too much Natural Energy, you become berserk.
Also means that Sasuke had a 'Sage' Mode before Naruto. He needs to get it again. mmm
