huh, never would have thought there was a sage mode for the snake summons, though looking back on the toad sage mode, which Jiraiya had, I suppose it makes perfect sense for the snakes to have one too. the slugs most likely have one as well if this is the case for those two.
and yeah, I'd reckon it could be possible to label Hiruzen as an SS rank ninja, though that's probably pushing it a bit.
I don't get the Hiruzen hype at all. Despite the hype the guy may have had, he didn't do anything to suggest he could live up to it. Even if you say he's old, Danzo, Onoki, and Chiyo have done thing far more impressive.
Granted I will give him benefit of the doubt due to his fight being so early in the series.

So, can any of you Hashirama fans explain why you think he's more powerful than Hiruzen?Because, I really can't escape the fact that he managed to defeat both the first and second Hokage in their true forms.
But my question is. How do you get around this?
Hiruzen never beat the Hashirama & Tobirama at their strongest, and as we're shown later on, they were far from their strongest, especially in the case of Hashirama. That, as well as the fact that Hiruzen was called the strongest Hokage in his prime (which we've never seen in action) is why he isn't more powerful than Hashirama at the age of 70.
Here's a Kushina I had to share:

Best dialogue ever. haermm

Nope. Mostly cause Hiruzen based on showings is a pretty lackluster ninja. What we have of him hardly equals S- in my opinion but that's where we stuck him. In his prime he might have been different but other than being called the strongest hokage(by a fallible character, a kissup at that) and calling himself stronger than Tobirama(who is the weakest Hokage), we don't have anything to go on.

How is what you said any different from what I said, apart from the ass kissing part? estahuh

Which character called him the strongest, anyway?---
I don't think Tsunade knows Slug Sage, but maybe Sakura will eventually discover it (or whoever Sakura's best student is...).
Iruka. He kissed up to Hiruzen ever since he hugged him as a child. 😛

And isn't Hiruzen the only Hokage he ever served under?
I mean, he was a little kid when Minato was around, and he wasn't an early-grad like Kakashi, so I don't think he was a ninja at that point.
He wouldn't have any context to compare with until Tsunade.
The only character who'd know enough to make a call would be... the Sannin, Danzo, enemies with some age, and that like.

You'd have a point if Iruka was the one who gave Hiruzen his nickname. Though it seems like Iruka was really just telling the kids what Hiruzen was known as when he was the Hokage before Minato.
