everyone called it, but it was too easy and second guessed themselves making each subsequent guess more absurd lol. it was the same case as when guessing who naruto's father was.
What a lame chapter. Did we really need to see 19 ****ing pages of Obito being a loser? Yes, yes, Kishi. We know. In the Naruto-universe every single generation is basically the same and there is no variance of personality. You've covered this theme a dozen times. We really didn't need to see 19 wordless pages of exposition showing how Obito resembled loser-Naruto and Kakashi resembled gary-stu Sasuke.
God damn it. facepalm
The only good part of this chapter was seeing Asuma mack on dat jail-bait Kurenai, and Gai kicking everyone's ass in the Chuunin Exams before losing to Kakashi.
So if Obito was reconstructed by Zetsu..then who created Zetsu? Also I wonder how he suddenly decided to grow 4 feet and fight Minato on top of his motivation for capturing the 9 tails. Maybe Zetsu is the main antagonist afterall?

Obito isn't Obito in the traditional sense- not if Kishimoto is a good writer (lol). There is no asspull haterade Obito can sip that would make him do a face-turn of this caliber, not after the highly sentimental sacrifice that he made to Kakashi. He died a good guy.
The only thing I can think of is that his body and subsequently his memories were "possessed" in the same manner that Orochimaru possesses people. Someone found his body, maybe before he was completely dead, and took control of it. That person is who we see now as Tobi/Obito.
Everything else would fall into place after that. Tobi creates Zetsu, subsequently does all the other crazy shit that Tobi's done, etc.
Madara and *sigh* obito have a link at some point as hinted by madara mentioning the same plan tobi talked about. madara also made use of hashirama cells circa VoTE so his medical machinations predate even the birth of the the sanin generation, so he would have already had the cells long enough to presumably clone a body that would be of a man jiraya's age or younger.
It would be interesting but stupid if it was a Senju-cell Madara clone who found Obito's body, repaired it and subsequently took possession of it.
Basically the type of immortality that Orochimaru has been trying to replicate for years. That could very well be how Tobi enticed him into joining Akatsuki.

Kishi has trolled better than Kubo by far and fan-power is less relevant in the story.
Let that sink in for a while.
What you're referring to as trolling is what's known as bad writing. The masked man's identity would've been an issue regardless of who it would've been. Obito was simply the worst candidate, because there's nothing remarkable about him.

At this point Kishi and Kubo's writing style are synonymous with both.
And that was makes it funny. Obito was such a poor choice that it made years of speculation of who the masked man was moot. Everyone guessed Obito but it was such a dumb choice that we all ignored it. Now we can laugh at the fact that the dumb guess was correct...for now.
I also wonder why Orochimaru wouldn't bother to try and use Senju cells for his immortality justu since he had samples of Hashirama's DNA and a bunch of Uchiha eyeballs thanks to Danzo IIRC.

I disagree heavily. None of the other candidates had nearly as much emotional weight in the story. The others were all random Uchiha* who no-one cares about or has a connection with. At least Obito has a connection to Kakashi and also serves as a counterpoint to Naruto since he is pretty much a fallen version of him. As an (apparantly) aspiring writer you should know that it is these connections that serve as the emotional spine of a story. If he had been one of those random Uchiha then none of the heroes would have given a shit about his true identity. This way Kakashi and hopefully Naruto can be personally invested in his story, motives and goal.
If a villain isn't connected to the heroes at all, if they barely care about each other outside of the immediate plot then that plot suffers for it. The hero and villain should be invested in each other beyond the logical. They should have an actual emotional connection. Not all the time I guess. There is no one true way to tell a story after all.
So yeah, that's something remarkable about him at least. Edit: Oh, and also none of the others had a clear motivation like Obito does. They'd just be one more ******* Uchiha until Kishi injected a backstory into them. Obito already has a backstory. He's already a character that we can understand.
* Other than the Future Sasuke concept which is so mindbogglingly shit i'm not even dignifying it with proper recognition as a theory.
