Beh, they weren't the worst flashbacks we've seen, they make Obito look kind of stupid though.

Well he is the evil version of Naruto essentially.

Need moar flashbacks of the shit Obito did as Tobi, and why he saw fit to act as a clown to some of the Akatsuki.

A classic cray post from Blax.

I think you missed the part where she...literally could not go through with the killing part and "stopped" like a little b*tch right before the end.

DDM's right, she freezes up at the end and doesn't even try it.

Edit: See.

That said you're comparing two things that really aren't all that similar. Hinata wants to **** a guy who barely acknowledges her. Naruto and Sakura want to save their friend so that everything can go back to the way it was.
But they are the same.

You can diagree with the point about Sakura still being in love with Sasuke, but you can't however argue the fact that she (and Naruto) are obsessed with a guy who wants jack shit to do with them.

Their obsession is much greater than Hinata's. Hinata has what amounts to a crush, Naruto inspires her and she's likes (probably loves) him, which makes her get shy when he's around... big deal, she hasn't done anything close to the fatal attraction level crap Sakura and Naruto have done in Sasuke's name.

Naruto may not reciprocate Hinata's romantic feelings (we can't even say for certain that he doesn't, because lets be honest, for the last few years he has been occupied with entirely more pressing matters than taking romantic interest in a girl), but he has at least shown that he cares about her and values her as a friend and fellow ninja; meanwhile, Sasuke, literally gives no phucks about Sakura and Naruto as evident when he tried to murder both of them. In terms of being pathetic, it's a stretch to put the two situations on the same level, claiming that Hinata is more pathetic than those two is laughable and just plain ol' odd.

It's cool if you don't like the Hinata as a character, but lets not pretend that she's pining over a guy who told her to phuck off or tried to kill her.

This is officially more than i ever wanted to write about this subject. 😐

No they aren't. Imagine if Naruto left the village. Do you think Hinata could kill him? Of course not. Shit, there is not a single question about it. If Naruto left the village, Hinata would join him instantly.

Also, you know who else gave no ****s about Naruto and Sakura? Gaara. Guess who they're buddies with now? Sasuke was their friend, a pretty darn good friend all things considered. He became bad because of some messed up shit and now they're stuck wanting to help him get back to the way he was before. It's something that the entire team, Kakashi included, wants and tries to achieve and they have a strong basis that bad people can change for the better.

And Hinata is more pathetic. You know why? Because she has a crush on a guy and it took so damn long for her to admit to it or even try to do anything about it. And after she did, she regressed back into her shell once more like it never happened. This is something simple that anyone can do and yet Hinata can't. Something much harder than killing someone you were once friends with, which is something Sakura actively tried to do. The reason she failed wasn't because she was weak but because killing someone you love is hard to do, regardless of how they are now, and it's something Hinata will never have to deal with.

Hinata > Sakura.

Simply because she never made me feel the urge to strangle her and rip out her organs in a fit of rage.

Their obsession with wanting to redeem Sasuke has a basis in the fact that they were close friends & team-mates before.
Whereas Hinata's obsession, not crush, stems from Naruto being an awesome dude who inspires everyone around him, and to date, she has not given us another reason as to why she loves Naruto. That's fan-girl shit.
If she were a half decent ninja, she'd spend her hours stalking Naruto, instead of spying on him from afar. sneer

Roughly 2 and a half years ago.

Yeah, their obsession with him has taken them to worse places, but they are trying to do something about it, as opposed to Hinata who has had a moment of awesome, and then reverted to her usual pathetic self, twice.

You're obviously biased towards Hinata's chest, so your opinion does not count. uhuh

Not canon.

I seriously don't remember that though. I guess I didn't read far enough. Whoops!

In the same way that Rin's "fight" with Kakashi matters. Hinata's fights never matter for her personally because they are always used for getting a reaction out of Naruto. They clearly don't matter to her because she regresses back into her quiet, mumbling, and useless state right afterwards.

You win the explicitly wrong award! Yay!

And Kiba's do? He was simply a mini-boss in the Chunin Exam arc and just stalling for time until Kankuro saved his all in the Sasuke Retrieval arc. Furthermore, Hinata's fights being primarily about motivating Naruto isn't a bad thing. He is, after all, the protagonist. He should be at the center of the story. And yeah, thats her personality. Naturally she isn't going to do a 180 and change her whole being. She does however mention her development afterwards and it is highlighted

Fair enough. It still doesn't make him actually important to the plot though.

Also, gotta love how you use mangareader when you've been told several times that it doesn't work for those in the states. No skin off my bones of course because I know the scene you're referring to but it does make you look inattentive at best or just incompetent at worst.

Urgh, its my default manga website ok? Routine is a hard thing to fight.

Her goal might be more interesting but the character never makes any actual progress towards it.

Other than the part where she specifically talks about how she feels like stronger person after her fight with Neji?

And Kiba wants to be stronger for the sake of being stronger. He's really kinda like Guy and Naruto in that he marks his rivals and wants to get better than them. And the reason it's good is because Kiba and Akamaru have gotten stronger, fulfilling what their goal is.

Lol, what a bullshit copout answer. 'Stronger for the sake of being stronger?' Lol, where does he state that exactly? Admit it, you just said that because there is no reason. He never says anything about wanting to be stronger and you know it.

Hinata doesn't. She has learned a few new moves but she is still a shit fighter. And she still hasn't gotten over her shyness and she [b]always needs Naruto to be involved for her resolve to be worth a damn. Always.

You missed the point. Hinata doesn't mant to be a stronger konoichi, she wants to be a stronger person and change herself into someone she likes being. See the above link, this and this.

And you're wrong. Sure, Naruto had to save her at one point, but Hinata still went to war and fought.

You clearly do not remember how often Hinata obsesses over Naruto.

She's only a horny sexpot in those fanfics I read and hentai. Other than that she's inspired by Naruto and cares for him.

He's afraid of losing Akamaru. It's simple, sure, but it's very well executed from the way he cradled his body during the fight to the way he was so concerned about him after the mission. It's basic but it is a fear.

Lol. Yes, I can see why I shouldn't just write him off as the dog guy. He's clearly much more complex than that. haermm

It could also be argued that he fears being too weak, as he is rather cocky and ready to prove himself. He really does take it to heart that Akamaru got hurt because of him and that he lost to Naruto, both times resolving to become stronger. And sure enough, he does.

It could be argued that he's an alien from Pluto, it doesn't make it any less something that you're pulling out of your ass.

Well the thing is her backstory doesn't involve character development. It gives a base for why she wants to become stronger and by extension develop but it doesn't develop her. It simply adds more details and would make her more well rounded...except that her family issues are never really addressed. Apparently she got on better terms with her dad but we've seen more conversations between Kiba and his family than Hinata with hers(excluding Neji). But she hasn't gotten any better about being shy(or weak) and so she hasn't developed.

Uh.... yeah it does develop her. That's the kind of stuff that develops a character. Not as in that she changes, but that it characterises and fleshes out the character. This is a good thing.

Because having a hobby is a "good" character mark for minor characters who don't get to have as much attention.

Kiba has had more screentime due to being a big player in a big arc.

He walks his dog. Holy shit, that doesn't mean anything. He's still a one-dimensional dude.

Nah, you underestimate how many monologues Hinata got in the early days.

No it didn't. The very next interaction between Hinata and Naruto she doesn't speak to him once. And then the very next time they meet she goes right back to hating herself and needing Naruto to encourage her. That isn't getting stronger as a person. No matter how you paint it.

Again, more pressing issues where occurring. Naruto stormed off to find Sasuke, there was no time for her to talk to him. And in the war she'd almost died, give her a freaking break.

You mean other than the times when she does display personal strength and bravery?

A doormat who needs encouragement to do things is only slightly more engaging than a regular doormat.

Nice. You just dislike her character, don't you? It's pretty petty, theres nothing wrong with her being a meek character.

And you act as though Kiba hasn't fought strong ninja before when he has fought with a Pain and Tobi himself(Hinata did nothing in this fight by the way).

You mean the Tobi who treated him like a complete joke and btw, he didn't fight a Pain.

Case in point: Hinata is worthless without Naruto there to motivate her in some way, either by saying nice things or by needing her help. Any resolve she has disappears shortly thereafter and she becomes the shy, self conscious girl who can't do anything once again. This is not an opinion. It is a showing in the manga.

Yes, she's a shy girl. So what? That doesn't make her worthless. That's just how she acts. Quit hatin', not every character needs to be a tomboy.

Besides, she clearly does grow considering that she admits that she feels stronger, that shes able to open up to Naruto and admit how she feels.

Yes, that scene of her talking to her crush while hiding behind a log is truly powerful. Are you joking? Not that it matters. The next time we see the two on a page together she is as shy as always. Character development that is regressed is worthless.

I agree. I really like it.

She doesn't regress, she simply remains as a shy person. Just because Naruto had serious moments in the early manga didn't stop him from acting like a moron most of the time. Just because Hinata has badass moments didn't stop her from acting shy most of the time. It would be retarded if she'd have changed that much overnight.

Caring deeply for someone who forgets you exist at least 50% of the time is actually considered a social disorder IRL.

Don't feel bad Blax. I remember you 55% of the time, at least.

I'm not gonna discuss irrelevant hypothetical scenarios. Whether she would follow him or not has nothing to do with the factual events of the series.

Sure thing, but Gaara was their enemy due to being under the influence of his bijuu and being manipulated by others, Sasuke is just batshit crazy and CHOOSES to not give a damn about his former friends.

Anyhow, Naruto and Sakura didn't chase Gaara around the world trying to gain his friendship. So yeah, that point is irrelevant and i dunno why you brought it up. This is about who is more pathetic.

so basically you think it's more pathetic to be timid than it is to be stubborn and naive... cool, that's your opinion and you're welcomed to it.

that is factually incorrect and highly presumptuous.

Yea, she had a clear shot and could've planted that kunai right in his back. He didn't even notice until she'd stopped.

So, I was over the great ninja war about 30 chapters ago. I'm ready for some more Orochimaru. Without the cursed hands. However, I'm not sure where Naruto is going to go after the great ninja war. This seems like this is the climatic to an end.
