It is amazingly sad how shitty this manga has become.
Gotta disagree with that. IMO the quality here is very high.
I do also note that when people talk about not liking Naruto, it's mostly about specific plot twists or characters they don't like, but others do. When people talk about Bleach, it's the horrible pacing, the dramatic devices that undermine tension, the over-use of no-sells, and so on. There is a difference between not liking a direction of a story and a drop in technical quality, and most of the time the arguments on Naruto fall into the former.
I don't consider the 'this fight is taking awhile' bit any worse than, say, the amount of time spent on random fighting in the Whitebeard War over at One Piece.

Pretty sure Blax is trollin'.
I took it as half serious, half troll.
I agree with his point: Naruto is definitely not the awesome manga it used to be.
Remember the Chunin exams?
That was so awesome. 🙁
When Naruto changed into the overall "end of the world" story, that is when it went down hill. Actually, when it changed to "Sasuke's story" is when it went down hill.

Not to mention the fact that we, the readers, are supposed to agree that part 1 is better. Think about it: Shippuden is basically Naruto trying to get Sasuke back to the village because he sees it as going back to the good old days, which is a common interest of both the readers and the character.

All of the interesting side characters have been utterly neglected in favor of showcasing the OP Kages and the even more OP Madara.

The story is a mess, and it has been awhile. Yes, yes, "waaaaah thats not true blax you're overreacting. Waaaah w-what about that one time in Shippuden- waaaaah" Nah. Objectively, Shippuden has its high points (the Sasori fight, for example), but overall the series is a shell of its old self, and it's been progressively getting worse. Bleach is garbage as well, but comparing Naruto to other manga is pointless. A series should be able to stand on its own merits.
I read it out of habit. I've been reading the newest issue of Naruto and Bleach every week since I was a Sophmore in High School... 5 years ago.
Plus, I'm clinging to the hope that Naruto will end up killing Sasuke in a final, climactic fight (getting dimmer every issue), and that Orochimaru will come out on top as the ultimate villain one more time before getting destroyed once and for all.
With the quality of the plot being what its been thus far, though, none of the scenarios seem very likely to occur, but if they did, they would at least partially redeem the crap Kishi has been shoving down our throats for the past year or so.

Except subtlety happens a *lot*. Remember Naruto letting himself get eaten in order to free 4-tails? The use of Kamui to beat Tobi's phasing?
I mean, you're complaining about power creep. Higher power isn't good or bad, it's just one style. You don't like it. That's fine! It is, however, a measure of taste, not quality.
The pacing is abysmal, this fight has lasted over 30 ****ing chapters and nothing genuinely significant has happened.
The last 30 chapters? Kabuto was defeated, Edo Tensai was released, Orochimaru revived, the Kage fought Madara and were defeated, Madara's original plan and what happened to him after the Hashirama fight, and Tobi's identity and past revealed.
All in less time than Fishman Island. Heck, all in less time than Punk Hazard so far.
Even when Naruto's at a slow stretch, it's considerably faster than One Piece.

It's more, "This is a matter of taste, not quality." You don't like the higher power and the particular characters being focused on.
But it's the same type of fighting with the same cleverness as before, similar pacing, and all that. Even the flashback reveals are very much of a similar nature to the ones we've had since part 1.
Something can be not-your-style without being horrible.
Objectively, Shippuden has its high points (the Sasori fight, for example), but overall the series is a shell of its old self, and it's been progressively getting worse.
Nah, it's been progressively getting less-your-taste.
Quality-wise, it's been pretty solid and has been for awhile, rising above some of the low points of earlier on in part 2.
Bleach is garbage as well, but comparing Naruto to other manga is pointless. A series should be able to stand on its own merits.
I hold it in higher esteem than One Piece honestly. It has easily the best pacing of the three, it still has creative fights that use cleverness, and I enjoy the characters. I think it very solidly stands on it's own.
In a way you don't like, but still.
