Chapter didn't do sh*t. We have long since passed the stage where there is doubt in Naruto. It is out of place and awkward for Naruto to be doubting his ninja way, yet again.
We could have skipped all of the first few pages and skipped to the end where Naruto grabs Hinata's hand and stands up to Obito. Then the chapter would not have seemed out of place. Then we could have had more stuff go on.
I think I shall do an edit of this Naruto chapter to be like it should have been. 😐
No, I love that theres this doubt now, because there absolutely should be. Naruto has never had to face this and never had good reason to doubt himself like he does now. This is great stuff. It isn't often when a shounen hero fails to live up to his loud boasting about how he'll kick Death in the nadgers and gets called on it.
And it really must be said that I love the continuation of the Naruto vs Obito philosophy thing. I thought this chapter had great emotional weight, especially coming off of the last two chapters. They were the set up and this was a great pay off.

Well, except when Haku died. And Zabuza. And Hiruzen. And Kimimaro. And Gaara. And Jiraiya. And both his parents. And Kakashi. And Tsunade (he thought she was dead). And Jiraiya. And Asuma. And Nagato. And Chiyo.

He wasn't even there for most of that. And a few of them came back to life. The only real one was Haku, who gave her life willingly and who he had no friendship with or reason to protect and Chiyo who again gave her life willingly to save Gaaras.

He didn't personally witness any of those deaths beyond Chiyo and Haku, and both of those people were individuals whom he had known for a very short amount of time. Not really comparable to watching one of your friends die right in your arms, imo.
Yeah...that's just not going to fly. Nothing compares to Naruto losing Jiraiya. Second to that would be the loss of Kakashi. Naruto and Neji were not very close, at all. They pretty much spent 0 time together.

*his life
And Neji...who gave his life up willingly. Oh, right...Naruto has experienced that same "trial" over and over and over and over and over and over and over (I may be one over short). Chapter was a waste. 😐

Well his parents died before he was born. Not sure if we can count them.
He...cried, man. It was the loss of his parents that made him do his swear thing, to begin with. His parents count more than anyone else, as far as his nindo.
