If killing sentience counts then he still has the Zetsu lol.
Aren't those all connected to a singular sentience?
But I wouldn't call it "killing sentience" in regards to what Pain does to prep the bodies for the avatar state. I think he just kicks out the soul of the original and pumps in some chakra from the 'giver'...then uses his Pain powers to make the magic happen.
Also, the Zetsu stuff....weren't they turned into trees.
I think the water thing is a thing he learned, and could turn off if he wished to.
Ditto Konan.

No. While they're all clones, their minds aren't linked if they don't link.

Not all of them.
Not that turning a person into a tree is much better.

Striking him with a big ass Rasenngan was unintentional? haermmWell if you qualify killing as a loss of sapience it would count.
Contrary to popular conception none of the Big Three show any real outward qualms for killing. The writer just doesn't have them do it because it runs the risk of making the hero look bad.
Killing the guy was unintentional. sneer What I meant was that the dude likely died because the technique was cancelled, which happened because of the Rasengan.

It was unintentional to kill *that* guy, but the giant rasengan to the face was still likely intended to be fatal, just to Itachi instead. But they did have their sentiences destroyed.
Plus, some were just shoved into a giant rasengan, not all were trees.
Or to incapacitate. Rasengans pack a punch, but even regular people have been hit by one and have just been KTFO, not killed.
Killing is defined as taking away life. Becoming a vegetable may be seen as a fate worse than death, but it is not death.
I dunno, looks like they were all turned into trees.
EDIT: Lol nevermind, he had Gamahiro crush a bunch of them.

So it suddenly occurred to me to look up something on Suigetsu. He has a blood type...how? He's made of water. I have never seen him bleed before. haermm
Maybe he's like that now because Orochimaru experimented on him?

When he died, there was blood and a crater. I got the impression it was because, y'know, he was hit by a highly destructive move and not just the technique ending (which wasn't indicated to be fatal).
"Pain allocates chakra from an Akatsuki member to a target person, allowing them to fight via an elaborate "copy". The power of the copy is in proportion to the volume of allocated chakra. The original's abilities are also available…!! However, once the chakra runs out, the technique is cancelled and the copy dies... "

Huh...Yura doesn't have any chest injuries at all and his clothes look as if nothing touched them. But he is still bleeding out the mouth so that suggests the rasengan did do internal damage. Weird.
It did damage him, but it was not what killed him. Pain's technique caused his death when it ended.
EDIT: Holy crap, Gaara's internal monologue was...weird.
