Gaara's was pretty tragic as well, and I could make an argument for Nagato, Tobi, Haku, and even Kabuto, though those last 3 might not be very good ones. But of those 3, do you have a pick and if so, why?
Kabuto was the only one who was made to kill his mother. Hm, though I guess Gaara had to kill a parent-figure too.
Gaara's pretty tops, isolated *and* forced to kill the only person who loved him, and told they didn't love him.

Itachi? While he was given something of a choice unlike Kabuto, he was technically made to kill his parents as well.
Yeah. Kishi has repeatedly compared Naruto's childhood to Gaara's, with Gaara's being more traumatic.

latest anime episode was decent. it was about torune and how he fits into the aburame clan. there was also a boost to shino's power and a good display of his tactical genius, too bad it's not really canon

So, Aura subjective question time: Which Naruto character has had the most tragic history?
Tough question but the answer is probably Gaara in my opinion. While some characters give him a run for his money like Sasuke, Nagato, and Itachi, Gaara has a distinction that is terrifying to me on a personal level: he can't sleep. For years he was hated by everyone and basically abandoned and the one retreat from the world that most people have was taken from him because he could not risk losing himself to a demon.
I mean dang that just freaks me out.

Have you thought about it yet? 😛

Good one. Forgot about his.
Torune punches out a Rasengan right?

Which is why the question is subjective. Lack of sleep does really suck, but it isn't the biggest factor for me as Gaara's insomnia didn't seem to be a big detriment after he fought Naruto. On the other hand, all of his father's plots against him, such as the one with Yashamaru, those were horrific in my eyes.
Then there's Tobi who was a pretty awesome gai at first, but one bad event and Madara's ideology really f***ed him.

You need to be flogged for forgetting the awesomeness that was the 6th coffin.

Idk just seems like a lack of sleep would severly negatively affect him on a biological level in addition to shades of Naruto/Sasuke troubles.
Eh...even if he is my favorite character I'd be lying if I said I felt that sympathetic towards him. It was a tragic event of course but Obito kinda ran away from all his trauma by disregarding his entire identity and reality as a whole. Such a character is more pitiable(like Azula) to me.
But I think that's what Kishi wanted out of the character so hey.

he physically had to kill his family/clan. He had to be in league with people he probably wanted to kill every day, and be thought of and remembered as a traitor and murdering psychopath. He had to lie to and torment his brother, which also lead to him going crazy and betraying his village and friends.
A lesser man would have committed suicide or gone mad from guilt.

Yeah, it was undoubtedly a factor, but assuming he still couldn't get any sleep after his battle with Naruto, it did not seem to be that big a detriment to him.
I think he ran away from it because of what he had learned from the Zetsu, that he could 'revive' Rin. Plus the whole Sharingan thingy.
Spoiler:
Orochimaru actually helped the Kage. He really does just seem to want to see what Sasuke does.Naruto says he wants to help the Bijuu(how?) while Sasuke is like **** that noise. We don't need no bijuu let the mother****er burn. Sai realizes that Sakura doesn't really trust Sasuke and yeah drama.
The last page comes out of nowhere though.
