Hinata is clearly dead imo, the way this arc has been written makes it seem like a massacre to me so all the people actually being alive would be strange writing to say the least.

I can agree. That line where Pein is like "it's just like when my parents were killed by konoha ninjas in front of me." That was an epic massacre too right? It spurred one of the main antagonists into mass destruction and strength, and now it's happening to naruto.

An interesting plot twist would be if Naruto ultimately becomes corrupted and turns evil or just loses his sanity for awhile. Seeing the most optimistic character in the entire series lose it and give in, even for just a moment, would add so much drama to the series.

Though I kinda guess that's what the Kyuubi is for.

Yeah, and yet he got his ass handed down by the 1st hokage.

Hell, Madara in his prime, with the EMS, and with the Kyuubi failed to destroy the village.

Who is a virtual unknown. Oh, except for that he and the Third are equals in power in their respective primes. You know, the Third who is considered the strongest ninja Konoha has ever produced? And the First defeated Kyuubi as well. Yeah, he must be a chump.

Oh, and Pain just had five of his bodies completely decimated by Naruto. Not to mention he had one of them smashed by Chouji and his dad before.

Fact is, other than the main Yahiko/God Realm body, Pain is fodder. That one body is the only truly relevant one.

Seeing the progression of the story, I won't be surprised if Zetsu turns out as the main antagonist

If Hinata dies, it's going to hurt me a lot, Peace.

Isn't that Yondy not Saru?

What would the the actual in-universe purpose of Pein keeping her alive?

Because Pain had a connection with Naruto and he doesn't really want to cause Pain and he already caused enough harm. Like some have pointed out, Naruto could be doing that Jedi Light side thing that the EU Luke did to Vader. Naruto has done it before, hasn't he?

isnt that the fourth? if the fourth isnt known as the strongest then i need to re-read/watch the serease cuz this whole time i thought he was the strongest

Meh, yeah he is.

I think, although to be honest Kishi has contradicted himself on this topic.

Current Naruto is stronger than 99% of the entire cast right now, including most of Akatsutski. I don't think you should use them getting their asses kicked by him as a basis for their strength.

Each body was capable of fending off the majority of Konoha's ninja by themselves...

Right.

Fodder.

I guess.

Strongest fodder in the entire series though.

One of his bodies was beaten back by Konohamaru ftw.

No, really, when that happened, I loled.

In this fight that's been true. In the Jiraiya fight it was the summoning Pain that was the main one.

Rasengan is an A or and S level ninjutsu. Kono worked his ass off for like, two years, to get there. Naruto helped train him. Naruto is literally a genius unparalleled in the Narutoverse when it comes to how quick he can learn S-level techniques.

And if I'm not mistaken, that one body wasn't very strong (relative to the other bodies), it was that body's techniques that complimented the other bodies.

There isn't. Which is what leaves the door open to her not being dead.

Also, we saw the actual deed being done with Fukusaku, Jiraiya, Kakashi(who just is in a situation where death is likely, ala Choji), and Shizune. With Hinata we just see him stab and an obscure pic that could be either Pein "sheathing" his blade, his blade stabbing through Hinata's face, her chest, or anyone along her body since the black stuff could be hair too.

The denial runs deep 🙂

Yeah...

No. That was blood for sure. And too be frank people, that was a lot of blood, and if that much blood was on the weapon then that means the wound must be huge... meaning that if he didn't outright kill her then she'll die of blood loss in a few minutes anyway. Ninja have a knack for surviving ridiculous amounts of blood loss, but that seems a bit extreme.

Yeah, she's clearly dead.
The part where Pain says she died the same way his parents did,
reveal that there was a face of anguish in Hinata (that we'd rather not see anyway)

The real question is how will NEJI react
