He's the master of all the pain's abilities, including the revival one.
It was stated in the latest issue that Nagato was the 7th Pain, and had control over life and death.
Which means he could kill Naruto in an instant if he wanted to, and revive him back.
After he stabbed Naruto with one of those tube thingies, Kyuubi prevented him from taking control over Naruto (plot device), and chose to speak with him instead (totally crap writing).
But it sucks his life source, as you can obviously see why his body is all wilted and aged from constantly re-animating dead bodies.
Reviving all those Konoha villagers + the previous fight with Kyuubi Naruto meant he was done for.

Kisame was just there to stall them though, and he wasn't full power. He wasn't even using half of his power, and was able to take on Gai easily.
Eh Barring Sasuke I wouldn't say Team Hawk is stronger than Team Gai. TenTen would beat Karin, Neji would beat Suigetsu, and Lee would beat Juugo..though the last one could probably be debated.

2. Karin has not done shit yet, this is true. Neji beat Suigetsu? How do you figure? That would be quite a feat, hitting the chakra points of water. Suigetsu was also able to block the Eight Tailed chakra blast, a ridiculous feat. Jugo knocked Kirabi through several feet of stone in one quick hit and is also incredibly durable, taking a hit from Suigetsu's sword wielded by Kirabi with no scratch. I would say he can take Lee.

What exactly does Kisame have going for him? He has a lot of chakra, oh wow. Kirabi has a Biju supplying his which means he pretty much never runs out. Water Jutsu? Well, Kirabi's beast form is a water animal, and he also took on Suigetsu's wave no problem. It would be a stomp imo.
Kirabi has shown far more competance with Water Jutsu than anyone in the series barring maybe the Second Hokage.

Suigetsu isn't always water, and he has no speed feats to make him even touch Neji. Even if he did go water, he'd still be blown away by Kaiten. At best it would be a stalemate. As for tanking Hachibi's blast, Neji's attacks are completely different. They have nothing to do with the durability of a person.
That's why I said Lee/Juugo is debatable. Lee has the speed to dodge Juugo and keep hitting him from every angle and wear Juugo down but Juugo has a big durability advantage. Though Lee has the gates if it really came down to that.
Or it could go, Neji beats Juugo, and Lee can stall Suigetsu and then Suigetsu isn't beating Neji, TenTen, and Lee.
