Indeed. But, since it was Mizukage's idea for Gaara to use his sand like that, I can't see it helping much. And then there is the matter of Jokey Boy. Which I don't think he could beat.
Jokey Boy was beaten via the method of containing it with gold, which then melted, locking it up.
4th doesn't even have to do something *special*, his jutsu is it's natural weakness 🙂

I meant auto defense. I know he can defend with it consciously.
Unless he jumps up there. Or attacks from a distance. He can make clones after all.
Nope. Jokey Boy was beaten by a combination of the gold and the sand that was cooled down by the hail. Had all these factors not contributed. Jokey Boy likely would have blown. In fact, it did. A little anyway. 😛
He still needs to figure out how the techniques work in order to stop it. Jokey Boy can dodge the gold all day after all. If it even gets to that point. 😛
My guess is Mu would be tricked by the mirage and thus keep aiming at it instead of the Kyoka, who could in turn attack from a distance based on where Mu's attacks are coming from. Mu would figure this out, turn visible and wait for Mizukage to strike, taking the hit. After that, he can attack where the Clam was. Sure, he'd get damaged, but to stop that move would be worth it.
After that, Mu can turn invisible. Then Mizukage plays the defense, forcing him to use Jokey Boy. Mu, thinking that is the real Mizukage, keeps trying to kill it but it's too fast. It then runs every where and begins nuking the area. Mu, upon sensing the Mizukage hiding, will find Kyoka and corner him. Jokey Boy shows up, begins to explode. Mu tries to stop it with the Dust technique. Big explosion, both are caught up in it.

The hail was part of Mizukage's jutsu so it'd be there anyway, and it'd cool the gold just as well even if sand wasn't there.

Active against an invisible enemy? Yeah, he could cover himself in a cocoon of gold but it would make it hard to fight. And we've never seen him use it that way anyway.

Slower than his specially made sand. Normal sand is slower than the auto-guard sand. Gaara also reacts before Deidara explodes it.
