That would've been the perfect time to develop a female character after witnessing the failure Kurenai brought.

We had Tsunade before the arc and Chiyo after it. And during the arc we did get to see Temari and Tayuya being cool I suppose.

Yeah but the most common form of tracking is hounds and they didn't use those.

Then they used an uncommon form of tracking.

Or they just followed their trail the normal way. Broken branches and stuff.

Chiyo wasn't in Part 1 though. Temari and Tayuya were kind of cool. I refuse to let Tsunade live her loss to Kabuto down for the rest of the series no matter what she does.

Kabuto cheated though.

Perhaps, but on a good day both Jiraiya and Orochimaru could casually pwn his ass. Why couldn't Tsunade do the same? She didn't have any prior handy-caps.

Neither of them have a phobia. And you are underestimating him a bit. He was Kakashi level, which would probably give Jiraiya and Orochimaru some mild difficulty.

Even if Jiraiya and Orochimaru would have mid difficulty they still would've beaten him. Kabuto didn't start cheating until the nerve punch happened leaving me to wonder exactly how much the phobia played into that fight.

Nothing is quite a bit of an overstatement. Could Kakashi beat either? Nope, not at all. But he would certainly make them work for it if they wanted to win. Part 1 Jiraiya and Orochimaru are rather unimpressive anyway. 😛

And note she didn't use any big jutsu like she busted out against Orochimaru just minutes later. No summon, no yin seal.

Really, he needed the phobia.

Indeed. In fact, looking at the fight, she was probably healing herself to fight with Orochimaru. No normal ninja is going to be able to get up after that nerve chop, which would be extremely broken if used on non medics.

I can just picture the fight if they went on longer:

*More taijutsu, minor cuts, etc.*
*Another nerve-chop*
Kabuto, to himself, "Now, if I can just figure out the new configuration..."
*WHAM*, smushed before he gets a chance to do so.
