kakashi is one of the most capable ninja in the manga, what he lacks in chackra he overcompensates with skill. the guy just always has something prepared or has an escape plan for every situation

i just realized kakashi has gone up against more akatsuki members than anyone else, and he's usually the one doing the ass saving.

- traded jutsu with the real kisame

went up against

- itachi
- kakuzu
- hidan
- pein
- deidara (briefly)

with just a chackra boost he'd be a real monster

edit* kakashi with a bijuu sealed in him, any of them, and he'd be all but unbeatable (tsukiyomi counter and increased chackra, helps with using the sharingan presumably)

I actually thought Shino would do well against Kidomaru, giving Neji a chance to fight Kimmi, which would be interesting. Then Lee would be there, Gaara may decide they were strong enough to take on Kimmi and he would go help Naruto.

Meh, maybe I overrate some of them.

He has good offense against Kidomaru's armor, but he doesn't have a good defense against the arrows and such.

Hey I just though of something....would things be different with Shino and Tenten on board? I mean unless it was intentional to keep a small retrieval party, I don't see why more would be a bad idea.

Well if Kiba got something new to use I'd figure Shino would've gotten the same assmuing he went of course. But alas thing would probably still turn out the same.

I just thought that maybe if another rookie or sand sibling was helping Naruto against Sasuke, they would retrieve him..

Tobi(Presumably would have been the same for Sasori): Three Tails.
Kakuzu(or Hidan?): Yugito.
Kisame: Roshi(Might have gotten more?)
Itachi: Was supposed to get Kyuubi, plans changed.
Pain: He got Utikata in the anime but IDK if you guys wanna count that. 😮

So yeah, who do you think was sent after who?

Shino and Tenten together? Probably. Between the two of them they could've been a fair help.

But several characters were likely out on other missions and simply not there when Shikamaru asked.

That thread was a complete goldmine.

What's ironic is Bleach and Naruto have switched positions when it comes to characters of different races. Bleach had Chad, one of the protagonists, Tousen, who was just cool, and Yoruichi, who was just awesome. Naruto had no one really.

Now, the characters mentioned above have gone and fused with the background for all intents and purposes while A, Bee, Darui, and Omoi have done some pretty important things within the Naruto story.
