I am enjoying myself, the only thing I am indeed sad about is that I left the game being a fairly decent character who could join most respectable content but now, the best i can do is prob Naxxramas 10 man and thats with a good group...

I mean I can do a few heroics, 5 mans in Ulduar and such but my DPS is usually only above the healer 🙁 most people have a lot of the newer epics.

It's very easy to get geared up, now.

1. Do regular TOC, the non-heroic 5 man. There is no limit - you can do it dozens of times per day, and it drops Naxx 10 quality gear. Also do the heroic version once a day, for Ulduar 10 quality gear.

2. Do the heroic daily every single day and collect the badges you get. Do many other heroics, too. You can buy Tier 9 pieces with Emblems of Triumph and Tier 8.5 with Emblems of Conquest.

3. Naxx 10. Do it. Gear is still decent and a full run will net you a large number of emblems of conquest.

Once you get decent gear try and do the 10 man TOC. It's shockingly easy. We cleared it on our first try.

Do these and you'll get geared up in a matter of days.

Even Nax 10 isn't needed. You could simplify that list down to "run a ton of 5-man heroics" and you'd get yourself well geared at this point. They really streamlined things at 80 for getting yourself geared. You still need a good raiding guild for the best gear, but you can get a lot closer without a guild than you've ever been able to.

That's true. I still think Naxx is good though if for no other reason than to get your feet wet with raiding at 80. And some of the gear is still quite good. And it's a fun raid.

So let me ask you, why do you all bother to gear up all the time? I've always quitted WoW when I reached endgame, had no more quests and only had gearwhoring to look forward to. I just don't see the appeal of running around getting gear, only to get to a new place to replace that gear with better ones, there's always a new patch coming making them obsolete.

For some reason I didn't mind it back when my guild were doing ZG and MC, but my interest started to drop after Naxx first appeared (we were then barely withing BWL and partway through AQ20), I guess I didn't enjoy how the previous great achievments were belittled so fast.

The quality of the instances have gone up by a ridiculous amount since Vanilla WoW. Before Wrath the last time I actually did any instances in a serious manner was vanilla wow, but that was even before MC and BWL and what have you. I never raided in BC and barely did any instances.

Now in Wrath I've started doing them again, I've done all Northrend instances and all the raids except Eye of Eternity and have had fun in all of them.

They're becomming less and less of a time sink, too. The newest one can be cleared in about an hour from start to finish. It's also very fun now that I have a number of my real life friends playing on my server, we all raid together and that only makes it more enjoyable.

A valid complaint. And if I were only focused on getting the absolute best gear, it might bother me.

For me, it's about being able to work together with a good group of raiders to tackle bosses. It's about thinking of a plan after a bunch of wipes, executing it, and having it work. It's the challenge, and it's fun. So why play this year's Madden, when next year's will be better and newer? Because both are fun. Same idea.

The same could be said of any play style. PvP a lot? Find 1-4 others and tear sh*t up in the arena. It's fun as hell when you get good. Or grab a group and wreck battlegrounds. Or just show people what you are capable of (as with achievement farmers). For example: I tank heroic instances with my hunter pet. Nobody believes me until they see it. But I did my homework, put in the time to learn the best way to do everything, and I'm a damn good tank. Will I ever tank high-level raids? No. Will I ever be better than a well-geared tank class? Nope. But it's a great challenge, it provides an occasional service to my guild or Pug's, and proving people wrong is also hilarious.

A good point. Jumping into Ulduar with no raid experience is painful for all. Nax is a good starter raid. I'm not sure about fun (I do enjoy my weekly dps-check on Patchwerk), but good for a fairly new 80.

Naxxramas and Arachnid Quarters in particular is actually rather good for an up-and-coming raider. It's pretty basic and still challenging on a level that dungeons can't offer.

Never played Naxxramas myself, but I imagine it would be as fun as any other raid. If you don't like it, I can't imagine you'll enjoy much of the other raiding content.

It's too easy to be enjoyable to me anymore. Partly because my guild's too geared for it, and partly because I've run it dozens of times now. I can do Nax on auto-pilot. But for a new raider, it will indeed be challenging and fun, and it was for me originally too. For me the fun is usually in the challenge of raids, so I quickly grow bored of stuff that we have on farm.

I'm just glad they didn't make things after Nax just as easy. Ulduar is harder, I don't consider ToC a full raid but some of its bosses are definitely harder. Nothing beats the insane challenge of pre-BC stuff like MC and BWL, but those may have been too hard.

Rawr for Cataclysm!!

o.o

anyone from Sentinels? 😄

I finally got my Shaman decked out in full Tier 8 and he looks like a beast. Love the look of the set.

Just thinking. At Blizzcon we were promised something very special when Fighting and defeating the Lich King. As his life drops even the top of the citadel will break and crumble away

So who else is dying with anticipation to finally see what the Lich King is capable of?

Shammys rule.

They're fun, but weak.

Fun though.

Eh, situational totems and bloodlust. They don't need to top heals or damage meters. They're like the swiss army knife of WoW.

Not saying they're useless. But their damage is far less than it should be, and they're awful in PVP against pretty much any decent class.

I still like the class, though. Most fun in the game, I think.

I don't know about far less dmg. than it should be. After all, every class can't be hunters ( 😉 ). And I have a buddy who PvP's well with a shammy, though that's his sole focus with him. Granted, they're not Pallys or DK's in Arena, but no class is (Pallys = god in arena).

Other news: Leveling my first serious alt, a priest. I can't imagine replacing my hunter as a main, but it'll be good to have a healer in my cadre of characters. I suppose I could be bothered to level my DK at some point, but will never have more than that.

And between my pet tanking, solid dps, and now-full PvP set and a dedicated arena team, I'm able to do pretty much everything a hunter is capable of (sans crazy soloing stuff, but enough people do that and I prefer tanking). It's pretty gratifying.

How do hunters do the most damage? I see a lot of this too, being a lock (not necessarily well equipped but most items above level 200) I am usually below a hunter or two, very rarely beat them. Do they just have good rotations and abilities, do you think their overpowered?
