"Are you sure?" Elrohir asked, still not believing her.

Sonia nodded. "I'm okay." she said smiling broadly.

Feel? Maik didn't feel anything except worried. Mrs. Higgs had been gone a long time, and it had suddenly occured to her that once Mrs. Higgs did return, the present would be erased.

"If you say so." Elrohir relented. He decided to lay off the snowballs for a while. No sense in accidentally hurting Sonia. It was the last thing he wanted.

Sonia smiled and grabbed his hand pulling him through the guarden to the other end where they went through the gate. She pointed to a frozen waterfall.

Elrohir stood in stunned silence. "Wow." he breathed after a minute. "It's beautiful." He stood there, just looking at it, not relinquishing Sonia's hand.

Sonia nodded. "It is, but it's deadly too." she said.

"How so?" he asked. How could frozen water be dangerous?

Sonia smiled. She picked up a stoned and gently threw it towards the waterfall. It was immediately ice torpedoed and fell to the fround as dust. "Beautiful but deadly."

Elrohir blinked. Oh. "Isn't there anything in this garden that WON'T kill you?" he asked. having Sonia with him was turning out to be more important than he had thought.

Sonia nodded. she pulled him along until they were behind the frozen waterfall. There was a cave in the cliff inside a beautiful garden grew and glowed brightly. "It won't kill you or harm you." she said sitting on the floor.

He looked around at all the plants, cautiously touching them to see if they really were harmless. Having decided they were, he sat on the floor next to Sonia. He had been outside for a long time, and for the first time he wondered what Maik and Descartes were up to, or if they even remembered he was gone.

sonia gently tapped the plants with her finger and they grew intertwining themselves to make animals.

Elrohir smiled. "Maik can do that. Except she does it with ice." He fell silent for a moment, watching the plants move "But she hasn't done it in a long time. A long time.."

"Why?" Sonia asked before she could stop herself. "I'm sorry." she sighed.

"Why do you apologize for asking questions?" Elrohir asked "I don't mind answering them." He thought her question over for a few minutes, figuring out how to answer it. "It's art. And art expresses emotion. Somthing Maik has abandoned of late."

"Oh." Sonia said hoping she hadn't overstepped. "Because of Alex?" she asked.

Elrohir frowned slightly adn traced his finger in the dirt of the cave floor. "Yes. At least, I think that's it. That's the big riddle about her." He sighed with resignation. "Unfortunately the answer is somewhere in the night Alex died. And she absolutely refuses to talk about it. Even to me." He looked up at Sonia and half smiled "Though Descartes seems to have been able to get her to talk more in three days than I have in three weeks."

Suddenly, a hand rushed out of the portal, and grabed Morgan's robes. "AH!!!" she screamed, as the hand pulled her in. there was a blinding flash, and the portal dissapeared, along w/ the hand, and Morgan.

Courtney cursed. "Shit." she was stuck in the past now. Morgan had the time turner.
*******
Sonia smiled. "Well, he has that effect on a lot of people."

"It's a good talent to have." Elrohir agreed

Sonia's lips quirked into an semievil smirk. "I wonder if I could get him to talk to her." she shook her head. But I don't want to pry."
