"Good luck." Elrohir told Sonia

"Thanks." Sonia said blushing slightly.

Elrohir watched them dissapear, his heart a mess of emotion. No good could come of this. Time would change, and he would lose her forever. He turned and walked quickly up the stairs, ignoring Maik's call, trying to escape but not knowing how.

(((Awww how sweet cry hug )))

Morgan rubbed her eyes in the slight light of the corridor of Hogwarts. She looked over at Sonia, just to make sure that she was still there. she was. "Here." said Morgan, lifting the thin gold chain from Sonia's neck.

Sonia nodded and stepped out of the chain. "Thanks."

Maik sighed sadly and flopped on the couch. "So now we wait. Again."

Descartes sighed. "I'm going to go check on Elrohir." he said going upstairs.

Elrohir had reached a dead end. He stopped at the end of a hallway in front of a large window, staring out at nothing.

Maik watched Descartes go upstairs then stretched out across the couch. If she was asleep she wouldn't have to think anymore, at least for now.

"Elrohir?" Descartes asked softly. "Are you okay?"

"No." Elrohir said in a choked voice. He swallowed quickly to try and control it.

"You are lieing to me. You're worried aout Sonia, right? That she won't remember you and that any friendship you two had will be gone."

"Something like that." Elrohir replied softly. He now realized how Maik must have felt these years. The complete frustration and futility. Sonia was gone and there was nothing he could do about it.

"Don't worry. sonia met Maik before the whole letter deal so no matter what you two will end up meeting." Descartes said.

"Do you know why Maik met her?" Elrohir asked. "She was at the Yule ball because she was part of the investigation of that letter. That's what she was looking for. Once it no longer exists, Maik won't go looking for it. And she won't meet Sonia."

Descartes sighed. "Maybe they'll still meet." he said. hopefully we all will still meet but under different circumstances.

That is a distinct possiblility. "Yes.." Elrohir said slowly. "I guess you're right. I'm being pretty foolish, aren't I? Giving up like this."

"I can't say anything. i gave up at the ministry. Everyone does at one point." Descartes said sounding a lot older than he was.

"That's true." Elrohir agreed. He looked at Descartes mischieviously "So you haven't given up on Maik then?"

Descartes laughed softly. "Never."
