How was that fight Colossus holding his own? It was made explicitly clear that he stood absolutely no chance against the Hulk in a straight up physical confrontation in the first round.
IIRC, his punches were literally having no effect and he got two pieced.
In the second round, he got a temporary knock out (Or a stun depending who you ask). But he jumped an injured Hulk who was calming down or whatever.
According to that comic, if they stood there and traded blows, Colossus would last about 5 seconds.
I don't even know how you could possibly think the WWH fight was Colossus holding his own. 😐
That doesn't even make sense to me.
Colossus and a bunch of other X-men occupied him for a few pages like random comic fights often go but he systematically owned each one in quick succession when he focused his attention on them. Including Colossus who literally got his arms bent over.
According to that comic, Colossus would last about 3 panels against the Hulk in a straight up fight.

And it's clear Colossus was holding back hence his comment. Colossus stated the "harder and harder" meaning that Colossus wasn't hitting as hard as he could until it was too late. In the rematch Colossus took him down.

He wasn't out anytime and Hulk was far more angry facing Reed than he was at facing Xavier.
He also busted Hulk's nose, Colossus had next to no affect on Hulk. Also a two handed attack on Colossus' head by WWH would probably split his head open.
