I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm a Biology Student and for me it's totally clear that evolution happend. There is simply no other way for life to evolve. I've seen a lot of questions asked (fossils, the Grand Canyon, oxygen, the first cell, The mitochondrial Eve => actually it were about 7 mitochndrial Eves out of Africa) and about 90 percent of them I could answer pretty easy. Why don't all these people get informed first and then start to ask questions?!
The Evolution Theory is a theory!! It is a pretty good theory because it explaines nearly everything but there are gaps due to never found fossils and missing knowledge. For example you can say that in Europe and the US a great deal of the existing fossils have been dug up but not in Asia, Africa or Australia.
I think it's crap to ban evolution from being taught in school. It's science and not a religion! The evolution theory does not have to compete with any Religion cause it's a completly different thing!
These people accept modern medicin but not science. Thats a nice paradox!
A while back hunchy stated that if I thought God created Evolution then he created other religions. No, humans create those aspects of life. If evolution is true, God did create it. God need not be worshiped in religion, but I agree with religions because it creates an environment for learning about God. Which is another way of saying how to live life without making all the mistakes people have before. Evil, historically, failed to live on.
Evolution, if at all a religion, would be called the Gaia Theory.

Evolution by the way, is a theory based on what will survive in the environment it is given. If PVS were an evolving species, and he started as a skunk living in a desert, he would have many traits that would allow him to live in the desert. Over millions of years of living in the desert many changes in the weather and other animals living to eat PVS would cause changes in appearance. Snakes living to kill PVS would also die out if they did not have the speed needed to survive off of PVS. Evolution would say that if PVS were to live on, the snake would have died out to allow PVS to live. Meaning, PVS acquired the speed to out run snakes and to live on due to genetics he obtained over millions of years. Basically if an evolving species makes changes that avoid extinction, then PVS would seem invincible, but another species that is more capable of the PVS would be named Kingcoot. The Kingcoot species could overtake the PVS because his genetic structure over survival of the fittest could prove to be a seemingly invincible evolutionary chain to come to a complete halt.

anyway, the bible says god created man in his own image...but leaves it at that. so, how literally can we take this? if say...a sea sponge had a conscience, it would see humans as being very similar to mice, cats and dogs. 4 limbs, a head, toes/fingers...so what is 'god's image' and if it looks exactly like homo sapien, then how are neandrathols explained? since they came first, that would perhaps mean that god looks like a neandrathol and we evolved from that?

I believe humans are created in Gods image. The bible isn't to be taken literally in my religion of being Lutheran. We read the bible, see connections of what physical events could occur. The first 7 days of creating existance. I had hypothesized that the big bang throwing all the suns and bodies into space could signify the first day of creation. That would leave the time scale such that the 7 days mentioned are "days" for God, not to be thought of as Earth revolving around the sun, which may not have existed till the 2nd or 3rd of God's day.
Humans were created in the image of god, it just took evolution to do it. It was then God's plan to create an image of himself, and now wouldn't we still be evolving into what he is? interesting.
Has this been said before? I hope not, beause that sounds perfectly logical. Is this the meaning of life? To become god? Scarey.

when the bible was written and up till not very lond ago. it was believe that it was 7 days. (six if you dont count when god took the day off)
they believed it was 7 days as in 172 hours. but now more openminded people of faith can say "well, maybe god didnt just create man, but created the great plan of nature...and IN that plan would be the evolution of man, who would ONE DAY be in my image" or perhaps "in his own image" simply means that we are part of nature, part of everything he created...so maybe that is what it means....the possabilities are endless for those who keep am open mind.
remember that in the dark ages all the way up till the colonization of the u.s., it was widely preached that god hated us all, and was always on the brink of losing his temper and smiting us all...today god loves us...religion adapted, as it will continue to adapt. thats the only way it can survive, and remain believable. perhaps its all just everchanging bullshit, or perhaps we are figuring out the truth of the bible little by little...but the interpretation is always changing.
bravo... the interpretation must adapt because the bible was ahead of its time when it was written, but that has really been passed by the 1000's of years now. We can see back soo much farther.

God simply spoke what he perceived, and we can misjudge it, but it can be true. George Lucas is trying to show this, and it was the purpose to show a world after religion and science have been nearly fully understood. But there can always be war even after the fact.
This is where Evil comes in to play. Evil will provoke war, and endlessly want war. That is where Saddam comes in.
