The Force are you saying that you know a verse in the bible that states 39 , if so , I would love to see it. I think what you are refering to is the jewish custom of flogging or scourging in which 39 lashes was the norm , as it was thought that 40 or more would kill the person.It was a so called act of mercy to take "1" back and do only 39. The whole act of scourging was to take the person to "within one inch" of death then stop so that they could then crucify them!

Did I, as a Christian, ever bring up the fact that there's something wrong with horror movies, or Backfire's tastes in general? Nope. That was another one of your blanketed statements. One that doesn't hold true for me especially, since I am being unfairly lumped in as one of, as you so eloquently put it, "those people".
the best you can do, I think, is just to ignore them for a while so they get that besides their narrowminded way of thinking (every christian thing on earth is good, every other thing is bad.

As for your "godbashing", it doesn't matter that God itself isn't in these forums, what does matter is that we maintain some level of civility in discussion. Like I said before, what you are doing by imposing what YOU think Christians feel or think about others makes you just as guilty as anyone else finding faults in others, and cowardly using them as a leg to stand on in debate. That goes for both sides.

It is indeed possible for this to get back on track, and gain a little civility if people who DON'T believe weren't so rude as to belittle other peoples beliefs, and throw out ludicrous stereotypes because they don't know any better. You have to want to get along before attempting to do so.
