The Passion of Christ

Yep. I saw it about 2 months ago or so. As you can tell, I wasn't impressed. However, it did have some good moments as I mentioned before. Ironically, the best parts were the flashback scenes that actually developed the character of Jesus Christ.

I also liked the first hour, when there was an actual story going on.

yers- Ive got my sites that state the records the Passion holds, so unless you are willing to go to see those sites too, then you and I are done with that discussion.

we never HAD a discussion, it was you ignoring sites which are proven to be correct over and over again, cause YOU want them to have records 🙄

My Review-

I really liked the movie being a Christian I found it touching and moving.It was a little long and boring but not enough to make me give it a thumbs down.I thought the acting by Jim Caviezel was just brilliant.This movie is violent in a bloody and shocking way.It was way more realistic than Kill Bill I think most everybody can agree with me on that (not that im downing KB).I tottaly respect everybodys opinions its not the movie everybody likes and I understand that.I just like it for what it was.And I saw it as a movie to inform nothing else.

I thought it was an awesome portrayl of Jesus Crusificion. I had never ever imagined it to even be that bad, it was a horrible death for anyone to have to go thru. I applaud Mel Gibson for taking the stand & doing the movie contrary to what people have said.

This is a long thread to catch up on 😖 much religious debate from what I see.

I finally got around to seeing it last night.
Given all the hype about how violent and bloody it was I was really disappointed.

It wasn't 1/2 as violent as I was expecting.

It was pretty boring in fact.
And those flashbacks became very old and tiring.
The only good part was Satan and those devil children.

This movie does not deserve any Oscars. It is not worthy of such honors. Maybe a nomination for Cavezel but certainly not a best directing nom and no way a best picture win.

Jesus got off easy if you ask me. A couple hours of suffering and eternity in paradise.
The people who were tortured unmercifully during the Spanish Inquistion in the name of Jesus are the ones that really suffered.

I caught it on cable about a year or two ago. Not a bad film, but the "passion" part, IMO, was way overdone, aimed at inciting anger toward "those responsible"* at least as much as rousing sympathy for Jesus.

*...no secret here, whom Mel thinks is responsible...

It depends...,do you consider yourself Christian? Do you believe in, Jesus Christ? If not then you will receive very little from this movie. The film is very well made with a few great performances but even if you are a believer of, Jesus Christ there isn't substance here. Gibson did a great job at capturing the final hours of a man going through a crucifixion process. There was no focus on, Christs teachings or hopes for mankind. The entire movie centers on just the, Passion...,what Christ, physically went through during his last hours. Yeah, the message is obviously, he endured all of this pain for humanity, even when his closest friends and followers turned their back on him, but it definitely could have been better conveyed.

I consider myself a Christian. I believe in, Christ. This movie didn't do for me what it did for others. It made me realize just what people endure during a crucifixion but it didn't do anything to build a connection or relationship with, Christ for me. Although, i suppose, Gibson wasn't concerned with that because he wasn't trying to make a movie that introduces people to, Christ, but rather showcase what he went through during his last hours. I still believe the movie would have benefited greatly had it showed Christ sharing his message.

So, yeah, it's probably worth watching but only if you're a christian or want to see someone get crucified. The violence is certainly intense and graphic.

I do believe in jesus i didnt know he went thorough that much pain apart from the nail's in the hands

I find the film great. Although, I don't watch it frequently. I've only seen it twice, once at the cinema and the other on dvd. Everyone should see this.
