Dun dun duuuuuun.

We're so much more amusing (and awesome) than the Jedi.

Well, in a way, I was hoping something like this might happen. 'Day of Choice' was about you as much as it was about the Epireans.

You are a large and experienced group now. How long can you carry on in such a haphazard way? You have no rules, no mechanism for resolving disputes.

I knew you wanted this as soon as Animosity came in to it.

So, you're welcome.

Yes we are.

Well, just maybe the Censure rules are waiting for their moment as well...

Sure, but they are still not half as entertaining as we can be 😛

I dunno, I quite like the temptation shown in the Jedi thread to be all "See this? This sabre here, yeah? That says I am a Jedi, and I can do whatever the hell I want with you! Whose going to argue with me, hmm?"

I have a feeling that what Vlad is doing is related to Censure?

*Headdesk*...

Proooobably.

I'm actually thinking about Vlad doing what needs to be done in order to get the job done, no matter what Roan's opinion of it is. I will try going along with Roan's demands, for now.

What happens to Jedi when they get kicked out of the council, anyway? Isn't it highly dangerous that they might turn to the dark side because of all the frustration and want for vengeance? They could also give the dark siders some very useful information.

Yeah, but you're still a Jedi. Which means following laws, not standing by and turning a blind eye they get broken or encouraging someone to break them, etc. And he's the one in charge of the mission which means it's probably a good thing to listen to how he wants things done.

Yeah but this isn't an arguement about breaking laws to get something done, but a different approach to solving things or getting information from someone. Roan's way of things is like the police appeasing a serial murderer and clearing him of all charges to find out where his partner is. Not only that, more than half the time appeasing a person to get vital illegal information won't work. In order to do so the chances are your going to have to complete an array of favors or tasks to get friendly with that person. Something I don't see Jedi doing. We don't have time for that.

Or you could be like Mace or Anakin and tell the suspect your going to make sure they live through hell unless they tell you the info. Efficient, no time wasted, and raises your self esteem. Okey, maybe not something that harsh but close to it.

Interrogations done involving threats/intimidation/torture get false info quite often, though, because if the person is frightened enough they'll just say what they think the person questioning them wants to say.

And really, it all comes down to Roan's in charge and he wants it done a specific way. I play a Darkie and I realize that going against the one in charge without having a damn good reason is not a good idea, most of the time.

Unless, as in our case, you know that the suspect knows something. Then the probability is he'll be scared enough to tell you the truth.

And yeah, I guess in the end your right.

Or you could bugger the case by doing something illegal and have a lawyer crash the whole thing.

What if he cries harrassment? What if you aree up in front of the Senate explaining your actions? What happens when thry ask what evidence did you have against this person? Was he under caution? Was your interview with him recorded? Did you give him any due process at all?

And what, incidentally, if it turns out you were wrong?

Also you DO have time. One thing this investigation has is lots and lots and lots of time.

I believe Vera suggested getting to know the suspect before raining on his retirement parade, though it wasn't her focus...

Edit - I need to learn to check threads before posting in discussion.

Go Team!

So if someone threatens someone, it can go all the way up to a case in the Senate? I mean, I understand if I physically abused someone. But these are just words. If in real life if someone comes up to someone and tell them they will beat the living **** out of them unless they tell them were the 'robbers' are, you can't really get a lawyer to bring that case all the way up to the Supreme Court.

If that is a police officer they will however be in big trouble. And the Jedi especially answer to the Council which answers to the Senate as I understand it, so it would obviously be a different scenario if a Jedi abused their power in such a way.

Good point, didn't think of it that way.

But then by the time he gets his lawyer and the files for the case, we would be done with the pirate case and I could personally find him and arrest him with evidence that he helped the pirates.
