I was thinking of starting a vinyl collection and am interested in learning how to dj but don't know jack shit about; which equipment to get, i heard some shit about ppl useing cd's instead of vinyl to dj and this may be stupid but if your were djing at a club would u play like all dance pop music or would some underground rap suffice.. im only 16 see i got a while to learn

Learn about the history first. About all the DJ's; Bambaataa, Herc, Premier, ect. You'll hear them talk about how they started out and what they first started using to what they use today. They'll school you more than anybody here ever could. I highly recommend the documentary Scratch. It's about the history of DJing and it's place in hip-hop.... also, I'm sure there's message boards online just for DJ's. Find one and check it out.

You like RZA's rhyme's? I always go into RZA albums for the beats knowing the rhymes aren't always going to be there. Not that he's wack, but his rhymes have never been his strong point.
