Originally posted by P, that Dudewhy are you comparing...i never said anything about comparing to other mc's. im strictly talking about Monch and i provided some lyrics and songs to prove my point.
lmao @ internal affairs having weak production.face it hh, the weakness of IA is the lyricism because its not consistent, some joints are hard as **** some joints ehhh... and one song is just wrong...
"He has a diverse flow, he switches time to time. His voice is incredible (once again this is all opinion). His lyrics are without a doubt one of the best to ever come out of the hip hop genre."
you know how many mcs fit this description? shit... you know how many issues nas touched on the lost tapes? mobb deep on infamous? cube on amw?
"his lyrics are incredible"
tons of mcs have incredible lyrics... the question is can that rapper continue making incredible lyrics. i seriously believe that any mc
can produce a good/classic album at least once in his career, just look at cam... confessions of fire is good (anybody who says otherwise is a hater) but can he maintain it? no. or eminem, if he had died (God forbid) after dropping MMLP, im sure people would have him on their top 5 lists like big, pun and L. but he didnt, so he continued doing his shit... started falling off, DROPPED the eminem show... and now he's irrelevant.dont get me wrong i like pharoah... but he hasnt produced enough material to be ranked fairly... unlike big,pun and L he is able to produce more songs if he like, but didnt... so how can you say he's better than mcs who consistently drop good lps? feels like i asked this shit before... smh
but i heard that he's about to drop an album... so we'll see
Nas- Hip Hop Is Dead----Due In September
Recent Def Jam signee Nas will deliver his first album for the label in late September. The rapper made the announcement last night (May 18) while performing on the first leg of labelmates the Roots’ two-night stand at New York's Radio City Music Hall.
The album is titled "Hip-Hop Is Dead,” according to a Def Jam representative, who also confirmed the September release.
Nas capped off his roughly 15-minute set by pronouncing, “I'm working hard for y’all. I got an album coming out in September.”
Def Jam president Jay-Z added Nas to the label’s roster in January, two months after the pair mutually dissolved their longtime feud.
As previously reported, the new disc will be one of two albums to be jointly marketed by Def Jam and Columbia, Nas’ previous label.
During a live chat on the Roc-A-Fella Web site in February, Jay-Z said that plans were underway to begin working on the project. Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am also told Billboard.com that he was scheduled to record with Nas.
"Hip-Hop Is Dead” will be the follow-up to 2004’s “Streets Disciple,” which peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 694,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In his 11 years with Columbia, Nas' catalog has sold 12 million units.
The Roots concert also featured Common, Talib Kweli, Big Daddy Kane and saw a brief cameo from comedian Dave Chappelle, who billed many of the same artists for his 2004 Block Party in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tonight's second round of performances will feature Erykah Badu, Mos Def, J. Davey and Angelique Kidjo.

Considering that you believe "there are still ton's of great music coming out (sic)", I'd say your initial analogy is the best; you believe it's pausing, rather than lying dormant.
However, I hardly think either is a true analogy as there is so much great hip-hop out there. It's a truism of any art-form, that once the market becomes mainstream and saturated, then it becomes increasingly difficult to find the gems amongst the flotsam. This is not to say that there is less good music, just that there is more bad.
i cosign the message of the album title
i just dont believe it...
but i guess it still depends on how you look at it ....
if you look at hiphop as just pure music.... then yeah.... it's alive cuz theres still a lot of rappers that are putting out quality albums
but if you look at hiphop as a culture, a lifestyle...... then ill guess youll agree with the statement... just look at how the media is hoe'ing the artform, White dudes dressing up like niggas, every mainstream video has to have semi-nude b*tches, politicians getting rappers to endorse them, hollywood dickriding the hiphop culture
SMFH
this guy has a pretty nice flow...but i think he's kinda lost his mind 😂
