not a big christian rap fan myself, or christianity for that matter. 🙂
did you know qwel was a christian rapper? i was listening to one of his records a few months ago and it was all about christians and jesus. ive been listening to him for years and i never knew he was that kind of rapper, i was shocked. it was funny though.

There's plenty of mainstream radio rap artist that suck.
no argument there, but theres enough non-religious artists that can fill my ipod so that i dont need to expose myself to the quacks. although that said a lot of the rappers i like are actually really religious they just dont sing about god in every song.
take qwel for instance, i still like him im just not going to listen to his jesus rap.
Originally posted by Darth Martinsomething about christianity and rap just sounds like a dreadful combination to me. i like my rap music violent and hedonistic. i remember i had to do some community service and i went to do it at some church youth group for kids from the projects, and the church leaders there set up games and played christian rap on this boom box. it was a funny experience but i really don't get how anyone could take that kind of shit seriously.
I'm not against general hip hop, though just b/c this guys Christian Rap won't make me refuse to listen. He's decent from I've heard so far, nothing too special. Not bad either. There's plenty of mainstream radio rap artist that suck.
it's not that i'm against the religious fanaticism, i don't like listening to any sort of limp-wrist hippy rappers calling for peace and salvation regardless of whether they're christian or not. i will however listen to 5%er islamic rappers like gang starr or wu tang on account of they only converted to scare whitey, which earns them +respect points.

*cunninlynguists - will rap for food, southernunderground, a piece of strange
any of those are good to start with but if you want to go chronologically then start with WRFF then to southern then strange, all great records
*cyne - time being, evolution flight
both great records, havent really heard any of their new stuff but id start with that anyways
*john smith - blunderbus, pinky's laundromat
bit a canadian hip hop for ya, john smith is one of my favourite emcees and one of the best least known rappers making records right now, a lotta people in this thread will agree with me on that
*park-like setting - the craftsmen
