Wolverine VS Cyclops

That was an "excellent" point 🙄 That just shows how much of a "great tactician" he is.

Cyclops tried and failed in 'Origins.' Yes, Cyclops could do that in a second, but being able to and succeeding in doing so are two different things as obviously shown in the panel. If you still don't understand what I just did, your argument is, Cyclops can hit Wolverine, therefore he does and therefore he wins. I can simply say, Wolverine can dodge Cyclops' blasts, therefore he does and therefore he wins. I don't believe you meant that to be the totality of your argument, but it needs to be a little bit more polished. Like, you need to convince me that Cyclops can easily keep his visor's line of sight on Wolverine and therefore easily hits him and wins. But to do that, you'd need to rebut my illustration of how difficult doing that actually is.

BTW, Cyclops penetrated Onslaught's armor after a crack had already appeared. I personally don't believe he can destroy adamantium.

BTW, Metalmanx. I agree with you half the time in these KMC threads. But I don't really care if you don't like the tone of my posts. As far as I'm concerned, your link with the question mark was one of two things: 1) Bait for me to not understand it. I would then believe it directly contradicted my theory, and feel foolish, even though you purportedly knew it didn't; or 2) An actual genuine attempt by you to debunk my theory, which was disproven and you defended yourself by saying you knew all along.

According to you, it was the former, because you knew it didn't contradict my theory before asking my explanation. And I simply do not appreciate that in the least. I actually would respect the latter. It's quite simply put, you tried to bait me into a trap and I threw it back in your face. Don't get indignant about it. F()ck with the bull and you get the horns.

🤨

What the hell are you talking about? You're the one running around with this "holier than thou" routine, not myself.

And really, how about you just ask me what I meant by the link. I have no reason to lie, especially over a comic. I posted that link with a question mark because, due to your wording, was unsure what you meant. I KNEW what was going on the scan, it's really not that hard to comprehend, my friend. I just wasn't sure if that's what you were referring to or not.

Get over yourself. 🙂

That supposed to be sarcasm? I can never tell on these boards...

metalmanx, what did wolverine ever do to you for you to hate him so much?

I can't tell if you're just ignorant or trying to bait me.

Either way, I'll just say it once more.

I. Don't. Hate/Dislike. Wolverine.

😐

Wolverine was "cool" when I was a kid... but as I grew up I respected Cyclops' abilities, team leadership, and overall character development so much more.

To me:
Wolverine is the Vin Diesel of comics. Go watch Pitch Black.
Cyclops is the Russel Crowe of comics. Go watch Cinderella Man.

"Cinderella Man?" I think the MUCH better comparison would be "Gladiator", my friend. Think about it. Being the leader of his fellow gladiators and constantly leading them to victory? And being the most powerful of them all in one-on-one as well? It's the perfect analogy.

Actually, I was talking about the character development of the comic characters vs the actors choices of characters in the movies they portray.

Cinderella man shows an character of angst, with a very fleshed out and well told story. (Not that Gladiator isn't, I was just stating a point about the depth of character development)

Whereas Vin Diesel plays... Fast and the Furious and Riddick... as slashemup... boring types...

hell arnold was better in conan then Vin was in Riddick.

How, in any way, could that scan be asking me whether I was referring to it or not? I posted an explanation that Cyclops can miss and his eyebeams can't bend. You then immediately posted a scan of what appeared to be Cyclops' beams bending. Are you saying that you were trying to help bolster my explanation of why Cyclops can miss with that scan? Now that's really streching it. Point is, you need to get over me making you feel foolish.

He killed his mother and sent his father into exile and kept him in a hyperbolic artifical coma for years 😐

Oh wait that's Vulcan 😛

Technically, it is near-impossible for Cyclops to miss.

His blasts move with the speed of light. He only needs to watch his target and think about firing. He can just follow Wolverine with his eyes and blast him.

And honestly, Wolverine: Origins did not portray Cyclops very well. Please try to take rest of his history in comparision and not focus on his low showings.

I can't believe you just ignored my explanation of why Cyclops can miss. I'll repost it for your benefit.

Another No-Prize go. Just in the same fashion that I explained Cap's shield absorption properties, Wolverine's healing powers, Iceman's powers, etc... I shall explain why Cyclops can miss.

-Steps up onto the soapbox-

#1101, I thought what you thought, a long time ago. Then I had a second thought. I shall tell you what that second thought is. Has Cyclops ever fired a beam from his visor that bended or came out slanted? I'm serious. Picture it. If Cyclops' head faces forward and his eyes looked to the left without his head moving, would his beam shoot out to the left in the direction his eyes were looking? No, it wouldn't. The visor limits and directs his beam. It only shoots forward or spreads out evenly from the visor's line of sight.

THEREFORE, Cyclops has to move his head to adjust the VISOR'S line of sight for normal shots, NOT just his eyes. He can't simply move his eyes around, he also has to move his head. Now you can easily see why he can miss and miss so spectacularly. If you still don't understand, let me illustrate: Picture me holding a camcorder directly in front of my face pointed at you. I'm trying to film you and keep you in the camera's line of sight at all times. You feint to the left and duck back to the right. If I am three feet away from you, I will be hard pressed to focus my camera's line of vision to keep you in the picture. In fact, it would be several times easier if I were much further away from you because you would have to move much faster and much farther to avoid my line of vision, which is expanded proportionally.

Now, does everyone understand why that comic happened the way it did? Good. Someone give me my No-Prize.

Do you understand now? Yes, Cyclops could keep him in his line of sight if his visor didn't restrict the beam's direction. If he was Superman, who could direct his heat vision anywhere he looked at without moving his head, I'd grant you your premise. But it obviously is not. Cyclops CANNOT just simply look and shoot. He has to point his visor in the direction he shoots. And just like the camcorder analogy, the closer an opponent is, the harder that becomes.

Or, he could just take his visor off and Logan isn't safe no matter where he runs.

Cyclops blasts move at lightspeed? eh?

wolverine vs. cyclops

If wolfy caught up cy would go down, but if cy took off his glasses wolverine is probubly down. 😱

* actually, there is no point where Cyke can lose this match with Logan... i stand corrected when i said Cyke can miss because of the limited line of sight of his visor (on page 98)... this one goes to mr.OneDumbG0... if yu can visit the "Cyclops Respect Thread", there, you can see how Quicksilver commented on Cyke's quick execution of his blasts, only Pietro's speed had saved him from being hit by the blasts... and Logan's speed is nowhere near Pietro's...

* Cyke has MORE options especially because of the range advantage... and Cyke won't go down easily even if, by some miracle, Logan ever rushes close because Cyke is also good in H2H... in a quicker split-second reaction, Cyke can just kick Logan away and blast him again and again...

* there is no need for Cyke to take his visor off, it would just be an overkill... 😉

In other words whoever hits the other first wins?
