The formulaic shuffle between pugilistic hip-hop verses and melodic choruses has grown staler than year-old Lucky Charms, and the roar of percussive down-tuned guitars has gotten so played out that all the volume and rage is no longer jarring or visceral.Linkin Park's tremendous success is somewhat baffling since they cling so tightly to the increasingly taboo rap-metal formula, shun rock-star antics and lack any sort of celebrity charisma. Even the band's fans might have a tough time picking the faces of vocalists Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, DJ Joseph Hahn, guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Phoenix and drummer Rob Bourdon out of a crowd.''
You know who wrote that? Some MTV hack. Thats right, MTV. The pop-spawning corporation thats attempting to turn the music industry into a bland, faceless world in which the only way artists can be successful is by being blonde, nubile and very adept at miming. Even MTV, the lowest of the low, consider Linkin Park as crap.
Nothing more needs to be said.
Wow, surprisingly true...
damn.... looks like you guys have alot to say..... well first off....linkin park has made if incredibly big.. i'm not too sure on this one but their album hybrid theory became 4 time platinum and that's like WOW compared to other bands like blink 182 Godsmack..blah blah blah and all those other bands that you guys listen to and that no ones heard of.... if linkin park sucks so bad then why are or were they so incredibly huge... i mean if they sucked don't you think people wouldn't buy what they have out... i'll admit Reanimation was kinda crappy.... but just cuz of some ones success of doing something that everyone's failed at doesn't mean you need to belittle them....... Linkin Park's Song "In The End" has recieved way more credit than what you guys seem to give it... sure it may seem that linkin park isn't like other rock bands only cuz they add hip hop in their music but that doesn't make them a sorry band...And as for you DeathBlow....UR SMART... i kinda didn't know what to say at first......You do have a good point... But then again that's ur opinion and this is my opinion...Case Closed.....
That's exactly true...Nice to see that ur still around trance...any way like trance said just becuz some people don't like them doesn't mean they're a bad band.... if you have some proof that just cuz u don't like them means they are a band then ppppppllllleeeeasssseeee tell me ur reasons i would love to hear them!lol i can't wait!!!
Or not.
By your logic, Britney Spears, Usher, Ashlee Simpson, New Found Glory, Sum41, 50-cent, G-unit, Hoobastank, and whatever other losers have found mainstream success are all great musicians.
Second, Godsmack suck ass, and so do blink-182, though am ashamed to admit I listen to blink... But I do recognize that they have little or no talent.
Nobody in this thread has said once that LP isn't like other rock bands because they have hip-hop in their music (which they really don't, they just have some shitty rapping). There are a number of rap-metal bands these days. Including one good band, who are in my sig. 'Course they don't exist anymore... But my point is that LP are far from the first rock band to rap some of their lyrics.
Yes, they do suck, and yes, people do buy their records, but then, as I said before, people also buy Britney Spears' records, who we all know sucks the big one.
Oh, and another thing, I don't know what you're talking about when you say nobody's heard of Godsmack and blink. If I had to guess, I'd say MORE people have heard of blink than have heard of LP. Godsmack... not so much, but they are certainly not unheard of.
So, in closing, an artist's success on the mainstream does not neccessarily indicate that they are talented, nor that their music even sounds good. All it means is that MTV likes them and therefore MTV's loyal fans will buy it, no matter how much it sucks.
i didn't mean that godsmack and blink were never heard of i meant that what ever other bands that u ppl listen to that no ones heard of ... and now that thats cleard up...Rage against the machines SUCKS!! in my opinion any way... i've heard their music and they are not good......sad to say.... that's why they don't EXISTS any more....😄
So now that I have soundly defeated you, your retort is "well RATM suck so!!!!!!" Wow, you're a great debater, aren't you? 😐
No, actually, RATM don't suck. Zack de la Rocha is a million times more talented than Chester will ever hope to be, and Tom Morello has more talent in his little finger than all the members of Linkin Park put together. Even if you don't like their music, you cannot logically claim that they suck, because any dumbass with two ears and a neuron can tell that RATM are better musicians, better songwriters, more intelligent, and care more about the music they make. Actually I'm not surprised you think RATM suck, being a Linkin Park fan. And Rage don't exist anymore because Zack de la Rocha wanted to pursue a solo career, not because they suck. They had (and still have) a huge fan base. Get your facts straight buddy 😐
A few of the bands I listen to:
Tool
Incubus
A Perfect Circle
NIN
RATM
System of a Down
Powerman 5000
Sublime
Nirvana
Deftones
Pearl Jam
Foo Fighters
...which, again, any dumbass with two ears and a neuron knows that plenty of people have heard of. It's only little teeny-bopper idiots who only watch MTV and listen to the radio who haven't heard of these bands. Even then, only about half of them. But that's beside the point, because again, a band's mainstream success has NOTHING to do with how talented they are.

is that directed at me?
dont want to be rude Darth, but i dont think Sum 41 should be lumped in with all those others, they're pretty talented, sure some of their stuff like Too Deep seems fairly simplistic and fairly "down the middle of the road" talent wise, but they have a great connection between their lead and rythm guitars, and they do make some pretty solid music, their new songs are wicked. sorry to get off topic, back to you and Adventchild slogging it out
