I'm just going to put my 2 cents on my anti-Linkin Park thing:

First of all, their guitar, drum, bass, and keyboard stuff is all very simple. The guys playing all have fairly little talent. The most talented member by far is Mr. Hahn.

Secondly, they love to remix more than Trent Reznor.

Finally, they're overrated to high hell. Too many kids listen to them just because it's the only thing they know about.

Oh, and they suck horribly live.

Linkin Park is one of the greatest bands live.
Not many people like them!
And their songs aren't that simple!

Why post on a thread when you hate the thing. You're really not proving anything!

So, what? Are you proving anything by saying they suck? Does it change the thread? Does it make anyone stop liking them?

Nothing I can say can keep you from liking them. But I can prove to you that their playing is simple. The songs are all based off of very basic progressions, just mixed around. That's why people don't like Linkin Park. It's all very, very basic. Plus, they're the height of emo. I believe their first video even had some chick cutting herself. Tell me that's not emo.

Also, they are not awesome live. Get experienced with real music first. See a band like Rush, Symphony X, or Tool live and tell me Linkin Park is one of the greatest bands live.

As I said before, you have the right to listen to whatever you want to and I can't change that. I'm just saying you should widen your musical horizons and check out some other stuff.

It's just really whiny lyrics that people are known to cut themselves to.

Some other bands in the emo genre are My Chemical Romance and Jimmy Eat World. That's just so you can get a better understanding of what emo is.

There's not much of playing style set for the style (normally crap), but they always have emotion-based lyrics.

Okay, that cleared it up a little. I love Emo bands but don't cut myself (and don't intend to).

Although there are a lot of bad emo bands out there, with whiny and annoying lyrics (simple plan comes to mind), there are some emo bands that are good. Nothing wrong with putting emotion into music. It can make the songs more powerful.
