They had to cut a lot, sure, but he was still well accounted for, I thought.
Faramir quote "But fear no more! I would not take this thing, if it lay by the highway. Not were Minas Tirith falling in ruin and I alone could save her, so, using the weapon of the Dark Lord for her good and my glory. No, I do not wish for such triumphs, Frodo son of Drogo"
And then the whole daddy issues thing which made no sense. In the books Denethor was pissed at faramir not because of some favorite sybling thing or over the loss of boromir. It was because he told his dad he had let the ring go. Denethor thought it as boromir did that it was better to have it in minas tirith. Then faramir is wounded saving the retreating osgiliath forces not on some stupid denethor suicide mission to take osgiliath. Thats when denethor goes mad and thw hole burning thing happens. The way peter jackson wrote it made no sense.

They actually didnt cut anything out in that case. If anything they super padded it. In the books he knew exactly what to do right away and never took them to osgiliath.Faramir quote "But fear no more! I would not take this thing, if it lay by the highway. I was talking more about him and Eowyn, tbh. But I see your point.
