Mendez jump suddenly and aims the pistol towards the black mass, its height being nearly identical to an elite, a memory rushes into his mind of the cold breath of the elite earlier, slashing his friend in half....
"Stop right there!" he says, the pistol in his hand shaking uncontrollably, he attempts to aim it but is overcome with emotion.

[]my character was a part of the SpartanIII program, not the one the mater cheif was in, so shes probably shorter than ur character. SpartanIII's were made to blend in. But dont worry Ill ill still play along.[]
As she stood there and looked down at the marine who's vision was obviously not as sharp as hers, let alone adjusted to the night, she noticed the look of fear in his eyes. A look she was all too familiar with. Visions flashed across her mind of a mission gone wrong. Marines were cut down by camo elites weilding energy swords, while she sat saftley in her snipers nest watching. She could only kill a few of the aliens before she was ordered to fall back with the rest of her squad. The Spartan forced the memory aside, but still felt weak in the knees. She stepped foward, and to her suprise off a small raise in the ground. The marine now appeared much larger. She looked at him, trying hard to keep the memories at bay, when she rememberd he was baffled by her presence. "At ease soldier." her voice was suprisingly calm. It was a good thing the night hid her eyes, because they had always showed her true emotions even when the rest of her didnt.

Mendez lets the pistol down a little, but never clicks the safety on.
"What, What the hell, What the hell are you?!" Mendez asked confusedly, memories of the elite fading in and out, along with a brief report on a 'superwarrior' called a spartan, he snorted at the idea in the memory.

She looked at him, pausing a moment before answering as she took in his words. "what are you?" The question was still a mystery to herself. She was no more human than the enemy they faught against. Years of training to kill, and intense biogenetic inhancements made her something different. Marines and ODST alike were never fond of them because they knew the truth. Having not thought of the answer she said "I am Spartan116." It was the best she could think of

"What? Don't try to get all ****ing Philosophical on me! Your a ****ing Spartan?!" He drops the pistol, the safety automatically kicking in to stop the sudden impact to misfire. Mendez fell to his knees, his head hangin low, he let out a maniacal laugh.

She arched an eyebrow at the soldier. She stood on edge, just incase... "What are you doing out here? I asked you a question." Her voice now had the growl of authority.

Mendez's head still hanging. "PFC Mendez, M'am, I, I couldn't sleep, the last mission, was well, botched." He stood up, head still hanging.

She felt a pinge of remorse for the soldier. The emotion was bad. She was trained to supress these emotions, but she couldnt help but feel sympathy for the marine who had probaly seen the same things she had. "Well, you really should rest up, Marine. It's been slow around here, but you know what that means."

Mendez Salutes "Yes m'am" He skulked to his barracks, but sleep never came again.... he arose again at dawn to the sound of an alarm, "Shit!" He got into combat gear and headed out the door, other marines in front and behind him, little did he know, but the spartan he met earlier would be his best friend soon....

The alarm sounded and Raevynn was up and ready beore any of the others. Stood alert, waiting for orders. She knew something big was about to happen, and hoped she was up for it. She looked towards the medical tent. Hopefully the enemy wasnt headed here. They had wounded.

Mendez stood in battle formation, waiting for his commanding officer to tell him where to go. Mendez had a knack for following orders to the Tee, so he was lost when not a single officer showed themselves to him and his squad.
"Where's the Sarge?'' A random marines asked
"Cut the chatter Tsukyo, Until the sarge comes, i'm in charge" The team leader, 'Cutter' berated Tsukyo, a veteran PFC.
"Why don't you both shut up and wait for someone with actual clout to their rank." Mendez said cooly, his battle rifle scope cracked from the last battle, not having enough time to replace it.

She stood near a group of marines. They faught amongst each other over authority. She knew she outranked them, but somehow felt she needed to stay out of this. They wouldn't be fond of a Spartan giving them orders. She decided to wait. 5 minutes past and still nothing. The alarm still sounded, and the marines still faught. She trotted over the group, stoping a good distance before them and shouting over the caos. "Keep it together Marines! Im in charge untill a seargent shows his face."

Mendez snapped to attention. He thought he recognized the voice, but then again, a lot of voices started to sound like those of ones he's lost. "Cut the shit guys, the Sarge is here, and she sounds purty!" Mendez joked. He snapped a halfhazard salute.

"Stow the grabass soldier!" She shot back defensivley. She thought he looked familiar, but then again, all these cocky marines were alike. She was going to have trouble keeping these ones in line. She knew it already.

"God damn sarge, just joking with ya, don't you know the best way to get over a tense situation is to laugh!" A few marines Hooahed in agreement, other cast sidelong glances at Mendez's bravery to stand up to a spartan "By the way, Do I know you?"
"Yea, Last night remember Mendez!" Cutter joked with mock gravity.

Raevynn's face showed no sighn of amusement. Maybe this was one of the reasons the Spartans and Marines never got along. They joked around and laughed during a situatuon that Spartans were trained to stay calm and orderly in. She dangerously eyed the marine who put in the comment. They were either very brave or very foolish to act this way in front of a Spartan. "I said STOW IT!" She shouted, cutting off their laughter. She took in a deep breath, preparing to put them in line, but she was cut off by Lieutenant Major Fletcher. "116."
She turned to face the superior and stood rigid. "Sir!" She said, snapping a sharp salute.
"The Seargent has requested your presence. Reaport there triple time."
"Yes sir!" She finished the salute and headed towards the seargents tent.

Mendez relaxed after she left
"Damn, Cutter you scared her off!" Tsukyo joked,
"So now whos in charge?"Cutter evaded the joke.
"I don't know..." Mendez reassured...

She stood at attention in the Seargents tent. He sat in a make shift chair and looked up at her through serious eyes. "Spartan116 reaporting as ordered, sir!"
He kept her eyes locked onto hers. "Cheif, we've picked up approach signatures for more than a hundred covenant headed this way from the east. We've called for evac, but they wont be here for an hour."
Raevynn knew that hour might as well be a month. The covenant would be all over this camp in less than 40 minutes, and they were no match for that many covenant. "My orders sir?"
He sighed and sat up straighter. "You and I know damn well that we need more time, so im sedning you out on a stealth mission. Take out as many of the bastards as you can from a secure location. Cut them down and give that evac enough time to get these people to saftey. I know that you're the only one here up for this task Cheif."
He didnt mention anything about an evac for her... She knew exactly what this was. A suicide mission. This is what Spartans were born for. The others would escape while she kept the covenant at bay.
"I understand sir."
He dissmissed her and she left the tent without another word

Mendez and the others, although trained for stamina, were getting weary of standing in battle formation with no orders.

She silently made her way past the group of marines who were still unorganized. She was sure a seargent would come for them next.
