I repeat. No baseball player is worth the kind of money Pudge or someone like Derek jeter for the yankees is getting paid.Baseball is out of control. The players and the owners have ruined the game. They have pudge but all its done is help them win a few more games every year. They still have a losing season.I myself could care less if the tigers moved away from detroit now that they tore down the classic tiger stadium. The new stadium they have COMERICO PARK looks like crap.Thats another thing that has turned me off towards baseball is all these owners tearing down historic ballparks and not giving a rats a$$ about tradition and history.I laughed my a$$ off when the first year when the tigers had a new ballpark,it brought in lots of fans, after that though, the attendance despite the new ballpark has been horrible. 😂 Im just glad I got to see old tiger stadium when I went to the last game of the year there before it got torn down.

And I repeat, that the market will suggest what salaries players make. Baseball is a million to billion dollar business so players will make more money than for example swimming which is nowhere near as popular. And your take on Jeter not worth the money he's making, well lets see he's only won 4 world series while being the most clutch hitter imaginable. Also MLB players are the best of the best so their entitled to make the most money.

Since you seem to hate any player who makes money, I suggest you see some Triple A or Double A ball if you haven't already, their's a Triple A in Sac and its great fun and you don't have to worry about players making millions of dollars.

I think all I need to do is ask wuTa if Pudge has been good for the Tigers. And while the Tigers are below .500 their way better than last year when they were one game from tying the worst record ever and I bet most Detroit fans say they aren't a embarrasment to the city like last year.

While I do like tradition, I think at times that ballparks need to move on. Newer ball parks do have their pirks and while older parks have tradition, they also can be dumps, so at times their needs to be newer ball parks or revinated old parks. Hell as much as Wrigley is a baseball landmark, its starting to fall apart literally. 😆

On a side note, as much as I hate the Cards it's a really nice story to see Rick Anciel (sp?) back on the Cards.

Ankiel, yeah he was such a great pitcher when he first came up, shows how much he wants to play the game if he went through that ordeal for so long.

Looks like the A's winning streak stop yesterday. It would have been cool to see them win 20 straight like they did in 2002. Angels and Rangers are falling behind, hopefully in the final weeks of the season the race remains close. Great season for the AL West! It has been a competitive one!

thats just it.Baseball salaries are way out of control and no way in hell should players be getting paid that kind of money even if they have won 4 world series or whatever.nobody is worth that kind of money just for playing a game.

I agree they shouldn't be getting paid that much, but when you look at how much money they bring in, baseball is a billion dollar industry, well you can see why they're getting paid that much, not meaning it's right.

yeah its not right for sure but yeah I can see why they are getting paid so much.

Argh! Got swept by the Red Sox! Damn! Now, I have a right to complain Halos are falling behing! Texas is only behind by 1 game. I want a close race in the West! A's most likely will win the division. As long as the Halos get wild card.....I'll be happy. Unfortunally Red Sox might have won it with the sweep.

or the yankees have won it... i think the red sox are gonna pass the yakees

Yeah, I would be really suprised if the A's lost the west. With their bullpen which was the weakness earlier in the year is now a strength their really isn't a weakness on this team right now, which when you look at both the Halos and Rangers, both have unreliable starting pitching.

I must say I don't know how the Giants do it. They have bad starting pitching which rarely gets past the 7th. Their bullpen has been terrible and their defense has been one of the worser in the league this year. Really their hitters never get enough credit. I mean really their scoring more runs than the Cards. Not to get totally off topic, but it amazes me how the media are such idiots in that whenever you see Cards highlights its "WOW look at Albert, Rolen and Edmonds who is going to stop them." when you see Giants highlights its "Are they ever going to get someone behind Bonds to hit for power" and they never look at the reason that separates the Cards and Giants is the Cards have the best bullpen while the Giants have one of the worst, the Cards have decent starting pitching while the Giants is much worse, the Cards have a great defense while the Giants is much worse.

Really although I would've loved to get Vlade Ive never had a problem with Sabean not going for power hitters because Pac Bell is such a pitchers park. Back to the present, one worrysome for Giant fans right now is Schmidt has had two back to back bad starts which came after an injury. If Schmidt troubles continue I dont see the Giants getting the wild card but what the hell do I know, Ive doubted this team all year and they keep proving me wrong.

sox are 2.5 back NY is about to lose if boston wins today its 1.5 .. is this really possible?

i didnt think it was... but now that it is... its great! well its not that great... considering the Yankees will still problay make the playoffs 🙁 but it would be great if the Angels could catch up to the yankees and win the wild card. 😄

NY has a slightly easier schedule then boston but they play eachother 6 times which will be key

Yeah I think Kevin Brown summed up the Yankee team right now, lol, nice broken hand.

The Twins were 8 and a half games out of first at the all star break last year and they won the division, so I think they can keep the lead from an very inexperienced team with a horrible bullpen and only 2 solid starters. Down the stretch the Indians young hitters will go into a slump like what always happens at some point with a young team and their bullpen will continue to blow games like they did tonight. The Twins have better pitchin, including the best pitcher in the American League, Johan Santana, they have a 40 hr hitting first baseman for the first time in 10 years, they have the 2nd best closer, top 5 defense, and will be getting the best catcher in the league back in september, Joe Mauer. So there is no reason they cannot win the division.

Looks like I was right about those Indians 💃 💃 💃 !!!!!
They aren't even in second anymore.

yup..not just me but if you ask any tiger fan and they will say that pudge is worth the money....the tigers may be below 500 but pudge has brought that team back to respectability...i can say im a tiger fan and actually not get laughed at.....all the tigers need is a bullpen and there will be able to contest for a playoff spot....and i dont know what the hell parker is talking about....tiger stadium was never tore down..its still up and even though i love that stadium that place was literally falling to pieces...parts of the roof was fall off it during games

Strangelove and wuTa are right.

Baseball players salaries and the opinions about them should be that subjective. Meaning, that the revenue generated by the players should in turn be spent on the players who made the game and their teams marketable. What one fan sees as a ridiculous amount of money to pay a player for a season or for the duration of their contract, another sees it as money that player has earned with their own sweat-equity.
When Alex Rodriguez signed his first contract with the M's, it was for less than 1 and a half million dollars, but the amount of revenue he brought to the Kingdome (which had a capacity of about 60,00--if memory serves), exceeded that in a monumental way.

And, just like I said about a month ago, and wuTa said above, call Pudge overpaid to any Tigers fan, and they're liable to try to rip your larynx out...

And, Strangelove--it's nice to see you mention Ankiel--I've always been a fan, and he sure has paid his dues within the confines of the farm system, after his brief stint in mlb prior to which he was hailed as 'the next big thing' in the Card's rotation.

hey i was right too.. lol .. i just said it much simpler.. sports a business..the goal of ANY business is to make money.. if you can pay your employees a lot and still make it on the bottom line then they are worth it..

GO REDSOX GO! wouldnt it be great if somehow they won the divison and the west kicked it up and took the WC ? id poop my pants lol

Yeah I never really got to see Ankiel's stuff as I wasn't as big of baseball fan at that time, but I followed his problems afterword. It's good that he was able to get through his mental problem and trying to fend off all the media questions of when he was ever coming back. I thought the Cards handled him very well by getting him out of any pressure and starting over from scratch.

On a more pathetic note, if you haven't heard about the Yankee's attempt at a forfeit game because the Devil Ray players wanted to stay home with their families because of the storm, hear it is.

While Levine and Cashman said it, I have no doubt that it was Curious George who thought of this. It's disgusting, he cares more about his stupid pennat race than people's families. Ive read a little of Zim's book and the new Yankee dynasty book and George has to be one of the biggest idiotic selfish blowhards I have ever seen. I almost never hope for something bad to happen to someone, but I really hope something bad happen's to that fatass.

that would be the best... i think the Red Sox will pass the yankees and i hope the angels can get hot and pass them too...HAHA.... imagine that.... the yankees not making the playoffs.... i would go crazy... and that would be one ting could be happy for since my hometown team the phillies played horrible and are now 12 back....

New topic up for debate, who do you think should or will win the NL/AL
Cy Young award? I think Johan Santana in the al, Jason Schmidt NL
