yea the angles are 6.5 back from NY i hate to say it.. but theres pretty much no way thats gonna happen with NY schedule.. short of some major upsets and the halos goin hard core

as far as cy young.. agree with cal although i do like curt schilling as well in the AL.. and if boston does by some miracle take over the Yanks i say its his

The Yankees arent gonna stay in first... they no it.... They asked for a forefit because Tampa Bay couldnt make the game because of the hurricane... thats ridiculous.... they no there in trouble so they have to ask for a forefit... i hate that yankees even more now... now they have a day night double header and i believe there losing at least one of the games... espicially with there pitching... and i cant believer kevin Brown broke his hand puching the wall... the way there playing... i think the angels can comeback... but it probaly wont happen

I'm sorry I left you out, but there was just so much damn stuff to read on here, but you gotta know I have nothin' but respect for you, crew.

And I'm glad your Bosox are finally living up to their potential.

I really hope you get the opportunity to soil your drawers. 😉

Yeah I never really got to see Ankiel's stuff as I wasn't as big of baseball fan at that time, but I followed his problems afterword. It's good that he was able to get through his mental problem and trying to fend off all the media questions of when he was ever coming back. I thought the Cards handled him very well by getting him out of any pressure and starting over from scratch.

I love that they never gave up on him--man, he had moments of brilliance, but he threw so many wild pitches--and I don't mean your standard wild pitch--he would throw ten or fifteen feet behind a guy, 5 or 6 times during a start. It was ugly. SO-OO-O ugly.

I hope he's got it all worked out and knocks our socks off this time.

New topic up for debate, who do you think should or will win the NL/AL
Cy Young award? I think Johan Santana in the al, Jason Schmidt NL

i agree with jasont shmidt...santana looks like the favorite in the al but i dont know

what about mvp?....i say it goes to bonds in the NL and probly manny rameriz in the AL but Ortiz is neck and neck with Rameriz

for MVP I say Bonds, all these people saying Pujols, Edmonds, or Rolen should win prove they shouldn't win it whenever they say the Cardinals have 3 mvp's. If you have three great players on a team, you cannot say one of them is most valuable, because if you take one of them out, they still have probably the best offense in the NL, if you take Barry away from the Giants, well they'd be a last place team. I think Ortiz should win AL award for is RBI's alone, not including the clutch hitting he has had the whole season

yea bonds for sure..

and badsy i actually dont even care for the red sox that much.. just despise NY and I think it would be good for Boston to pull of this come back.. be cool to see.. who i really wanna see achieve is seattle and i may die before that happens

I must say I don't know how the Giants do it. They have bad starting pitching which rarely gets past the 7th. Their bullpen has been terrible and their defense has been one of the worser in the league this year. Really their hitters never get enough credit. I mean really their scoring more runs than the Cards. Not to get totally off topic, but it amazes me how the media are such idiots in that whenever you see Cards highlights its "WOW look at Albert, Rolen and Edmonds who is going to stop them." when you see Giants highlights its "Are they ever going to get someone behind Bonds to hit for power" and they never look at the reason that separates the Cards and Giants is the Cards have the best bullpen while the Giants have one of the worst, the Cards have decent starting pitching while the Giants is much worse, the Cards have a great defense while the Giants is much worse.

Really although I would've loved to get Vlade Ive never had a problem with Sabean not going for power hitters because Pac Bell is such a pitchers park. Back to the present, one worrysome for Giant fans right now is Schmidt has had two back to back bad starts which came after an injury. If Schmidt troubles continue I dont see the Giants getting the wild card but what the hell do I know, Ive doubted this team all year and they keep proving me wrong.

Concur, but the entire NL wild card race looks very tight. Giants are drawing closer to win it. If the playoffs started today (Sept 14.) then no doubt the Giants would take it away from the Cubs and the Astros. Speaking of the Giants BB might get his 700th anytime soon. It would be ashame if he does it in a road trip. Would have been just nice to see him do it a Pac Bell in front of the fans.

I'm more surprise by the recent "left behind" Rangers. They looked pump up after the ASG. Yet, they took a fall and are now 8 behind WC and 6.0 behind the AL West! Halos have a good schedule coming up with the Mariners and the Rangers. But if they stay at least a game behind the A's after the schedule and face Oakland is going to be thriller. The upcoming series will determine if the Halos stay or go home. This is going to be interesting.

yea the rangers are pretty much out of it without some huge wins.. i dont think the giants will stay in it though.. i mean theres a huge race but there are a couple better teams in it (the cubs have no excuse not to take it.. but its likely they will screw up)

well the phillies are getting closer... only 4.5 out i believe.... the thing is... they would have to jump 5 teams to get the wild card.... and that is very tough to do... too bad for all the injuries we've had... cause look how we're playin now... we are health and we won six straight until last night... but its too little too late in my mind... i wonder where we would've been if we stayed healthy

Congrats Barry for 700!

Great Bo Sox Yanks game (how many times have I said that in this thread😄). You can totally see a different Red Sox team than the last time they were in Yankee stadium. In my opinion, they should be the favorites when the playoffs start because there isn't a weaknesses on the Bo Sox. Great starting pitching with Schilling Pedro and Wakefield, powerful hitting with Manny Ortiz and Varitek, good defense, good bench, great bullpen with Foulke anchoring.

I really love seeing Foulke pitch. His fastball rarely reaches 90 but he spots it so well that it's as tough to hit as a 97 heater, and his change up is just plain nasty, almost impossible to notice it from a fastball until it drops. I was sad to see Foulke leave the A's but at least he went to my third favorite team.

Yea that game was great.. and it was awesome that they went to every Bonds at bat so we could see it... too bad the Red Sox are losing 10-0 now.

Best series of the year! Angels vs. Athletics this weekend!! HOO-HOO! tis the one I've been waiting for! A's have defended first place for quite a while, and I'm kinda disappointed they are allowing the Rangers back in the race (yeah, I know I wanted a close race with all three teams, but I changed my mind during the course of the late season). The A's are 2 1/2 games ahead of the Angels with 10 games to play in the season, so the next three will go a long way toward deciding the winner of the American League West. Cheers! to the A's! and let it be a close race! 😄

How the A's and Angles have been stumbling Texas could leapfrog both into the playoffs if the A's starting pitching keeps stinking and the Angles not scoring.

I never thought the Giants could get in the playoffs, because they looked so much like a bad team that's somehow winning, but now they actually look like a winning team. With Hermanson pitching brilliantly for the closer role its really given the Giants a whole new life and the rookie Lowry pitching well with his nasty change-up and a resurgence of Bret Tomko they actually have good starting pitching other than Schmidt. I think the Giants will beat out La for the pennat and who knows, they could be trouble in the playoffs especially since they always give the Cards trouble.

Also WD don't forget Giants La, Yanks Bo Sox along with Angles A's, this weekend should be heaven for baseball fans. 😄

Dodgers are no suprise to me. They complete blew it by allowing the Giants back in the race. Not taking anything away from the Giants (they are a great NL team) but the Dodgers help them by not securing the NL West. The other series are great but my eyes currently on the AL West. Rangers swept the A's and I still can't believe! I love my Halos, but they better not let me down. I'm already disappointing with low score runs they've had so far. But I'm keeping my fingers cross. Texas is making a come back late in the season. Better keep them out. Go Mariners! 😉

I no two of the Yankees sox games are on ESPN and ESPN2... do u know if the other one is on fox or something else?

I thought they were gonna do one on fox Saturday afternoon, but I'm not sure.

WindDancer--go M's? That's something even I haven't said for a while, but I still find myself watching, still caring, even though it's hopeless and embarassing that my team's only involvement in post-season will be to aid other AL West teams by winning or losing. It is still entertaining, nevertheless, and it's so nice to see so many divisions in the league so competetive. There's alot of incredible ball being played right now.
As for the Dodgers--I equate them with the Rangers. A good roster, lots of talent, yet somehow, they always fall short of their potential. Especially Texas. When I go over their rosters the past five years, it's astonishing that they weren't able to do more.

Strangelove--even though the Giants aren't my favorites, it's nice to see them doing well, and nice to see contributions from other pitchers--it helps all-around. Glad Tomko is stepping up, too. I haven't seen Lowry pitch, but I'll try to check him out.

strangelove -- (this is from the bosox ny thread) taking out IBB would make a difference.. with a runner on second you cant just throw 4 balls in the dirt to put bonds on 1st, you have to then worry about a past ball because your so scared of throwing it anywhere nere the strike zone. Plus it leaves the decision to swing up to the batter not to the pitcher which is the way it should be, and it makes the pitcher still need to have control one bad pitch could float into the zone.. they shouldnt get a free pass on a batter. being the NL everytime they IBB bonds when that pitcher gets up id throw at his head the point will get out lol

The thing is while Ive never been a pitcher, I don't think it's that hard to throw four pitches outside the strike zone. Remember, Barry rarely swings at anything out of the strike zone with his great eye. The catcher could just set up away from Barry and the pitcher could throw four fastballs no where near the strike zone. That's pretty much the same as an intentional walk only the catcher didn't stand up, but the result is the same, Barry doesn't get anything close to hit.

😱 GO GIANTS! WILDCARD! WILDCARD! WILDCARD! GO! GO! GO! 😱

Congratulations Barry. Mr. 700 and counting. All those hate'n pitchers that either walk him or throw at his melon can drop dead.
