Anakin disarms Obi-Wan and holds the sabre to his throat.
"I told you the dark side is more powerful."
"That's not what Padme said."
"What?!"
Obi-Wan leaps back and as Anakin charges forward, he slips into the volcano. OBi-Wan hears Anakin screaming as he falls.
"Wait till I have a red lightsabre!" Anakin screams in his cliche, Skywalker, whiny voice.
Obi-Wan looks in the lava, and picks up the lightsabre.
"There's hope out there somewhere."

so then there is that great twist of irony in ANH, first, by Ani becoming Vader, and BEING more powerful, then again when Obi wan completes the threat, and Vader strikes HIM down, and then he becomes more powerful as the Force ghost, etc etc...
