Well, Gogeta is pretty strong. So, is Super Saiyajin 4, gogeta
Too bad he isn't canon, which makes him weakest as he is non-existant in the real story.

umm. . . HaruhiThis is a most powerful character in "any anime" thread
Dragonball GT falls within the category of "any anime". Yes it is not DB cannon but it is still an anime. By my logic that means he still counts.
You actually acknowledge GT as an anime? I prefer to call it crap and leave it as is.

It was made by a Japanese person, its animated therefore it is in fact anime.
I never said GT was a good anime (personally DB's never really facinated me what with the linear charcters and such).
You should accept that in any artform somethings will be crap (if every piece of art had to be a master piece there wouldn't be much too look at).
Alright I've come up with a list
Most powerful
God: Lord of Nightmare
RealityWarper(non-god): Yuki Nagato
Genius: Edward Elric
Magical Gril: Sailor Moon (couldn't think of any others)
Sorcerer: Majin Dark Schnieder
Mech: Eva Unit 01
Human Warrior: Kenshin Himura
Superpowered Warrior: Goku (DB canon and movies)
I welcome suggestions and arguments.
I intend to revise this list if people respond w/ suggestions.

Majin Dark Schneider is hardly just a sorcerer anymore though. In the manga, he's powerful enough to kick the devils/lucifers (among other angelic beings) ass w/out any actual spells, but w/brute power alone. I'd say he's in the super powered warrior/being class, overruling Goku easily.
And as for human warrior, I think Kenshiro has Kenshin beat. This guy is a beast who, in just the anime, survives after an entire building falls on top of him. All he does is just walk through the stones, sheering the structure with his body alone. I also dunno if the Saint Seiya senshi are human, but if they are, then they're probably even more powerful than that. One guy could literally punch one hundred million times in a second.
Mech, I'd give it to Ideon, who literally destroyed the universe with a single blast.
Magic Girl, I'd probably give to Sailor Galaxia or Saturn.
OK thanks Haruhi. Here's a revised list
Most powerful
God: Lord of Nightmares
RealityWarper(non-god): Yuki Nagato
Genius: Edward Elric
Magical Gril: Sailor Galaxia
Sorcerer:
Mech: Ideon (although the name of the anime translates to Legendary Giant God Ideon wiki does say it is a mech)
Human Warrior: Kenshin Himura (He would never let a building land on him) (I wont cound the saint seiya b/c 1million punches a second is far beyond humans)
Superpowered Warrior: Goku (DB canon and movies he manages to defeat or alteast match enemies that overpower gods with ease)

I saw the ending video on Youtube and it seemed that only about 3 planets were actually destroyed. The video shows the spirits of the main cast passing by other planets ands stuff. 😉
This is going to sound really cheesy, but somehow in the ending, the universe actually began to remake itself, and the spirits were just there watching it all happen.
Originally posted by HaruhiThe Universe wasn’t destroyed at all though; the blast was shown destroying 3 planets and then the spirits leaving that area. There were still stars and stuff left unscratched and even some kind of lizard creature roaming a planet.

Any chance you have a link to the interview where he stated that?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Runaway_Ideon
Amusingly, Tomino himself has stated in an issue of Newtype that although Ideon is one of his favorite works, he himself wonders sometimes how he could come up with such a depressing ending at the time. Tomino tended to do this often because he often wished to never make sequels to his work,
Plus the universe was reborn, so it destroyed more than three planets. And the event can be refrenced in canon and non canon endings.

I meant the entire interview not something that could have been taken out of context and put on Wikipedia. Maybe the Universe was destroyed but the animators just screwed up the scene. And what cannon instances references the destruction of the Universe in Ideon?
