Except this isn't saying "They move so fast they are unmatchable" or "they move at infinite super speed" it's just giving a discrete value (lightspeed) and saying they move that fast.
But where is the proof behind that? Anybody can say "They move at -so- speeds" but if we don't get a demonstration, of even an explanation of this so-called "FTL" then where do we draw the line? They can say it, every other page, but if it's always just "They're FTL" it just holds no water. OTOH, we have characters like Gotenks, who were able to span the globe several times in under a second. That's a bonafide demonstration of feat. How much does somebody yelling "He's FTL" really hold here? If we go by what's said, then everybody is FTL. Everybody can destroy planets. Everybody can do so and so.
That's like when Green Lantern was saying "Doomsday was faster than The Flash." Right, we're supposed to believe that based off of one statement, when the Flash has actually proven his speed BY going FTL, breaking numerous barriers and even zipping through time.
