There will be five 'ascended' characters. Anyone else who decides to join only joins as an adolescent. The fifth character will inevitably be the antagonist, and the point of the RP is life in the modern world as a witch. However society does not believe in witches, let alone accept them, so secrecy is key to survival. The antagonist is addicted to the power, and strives to acquire more of it at anyone's cost.
