A full powered Darksied is equal in power to Galactus who is way out of Thanos' league. And while Thanos couldn't beat Odin, Darksied has made a hobby of destroying entire pantheons of gods.

Darkseid is no Galactus, just like Orion is no match for the Silver Surfer, who said that the Omega beam effect had to work on Thanos, he is immortal... these beams will do nothing to him except give a mild case of heat rash... strength wise these guys are nearly equal but seeing as to how Thanos punked Thor, The Thing, Spiderman, Captain Marvell (original)... and a slew of other characters single handedly, I think that he's at least a little stronger than Darkseid, and he has gotten stronger since those days. Thanos wins. He also psionic abilities, matter manipulation, Darkseid keeps getting his a** beaten by everyones favorite contradiction big blue.. Thanos would beat his a** too! I have to say it one more time though, there is no chance in hell that Darkseid could ever beat a fully powered Galactus.

It didn't work in the DC universe.... he could have conquered Marvel with it, but wasn't interested, thus he tossed it aside like trash.
