are you "special" in some way? Do you not know how evolution works? The animals walking our earth today evolved from other animals. Birds evolved from reptiles. Reptiles lay eggs. The very first reptile that mutated/evolved to have the characteristics of a chicken was hatched from an egg.......an egg layed by it's reptile mother.

There are two different ways of looking at the question. You have to define which type of egg it is. Some may say the egg inherits its creator's label, while others may say it's what come out of the egg.
And if you can the creature a chicken all the way back to the beginning, which came first? The answer isn't as cut and dry as you're trying to make it.
1. nobody said "which came first the chicken or a chicken's egg?".....they said egg in general......the very first chicken was hatched from an egg.
2. The egg of a reptile or bird either one if fully formed before the little cluster of cells inside of it even begin to start multiplying and taking the form of any specific animal. The egg truely does come first........

You're right. Nobody said anything about a chicken egg, but then again the question is not literally about chickens either.
So, an egg just magically appeared with a creature inside it one spring day? Nothing at all laid it.

that's not what the question asked. It simply asked which came first, the chicken or the egg. It didn't ask which came first, the chicken or the chicken's egg. I was merely being logical about answering the question........assuming the originator was trying to figure out the origins of chickens.................I could have been a smart ass and replied "egg.....by millions upon millions of years"......as animals were laying eggs long before there were such things as birds....or even mammals.
If the person who originally asked the question does not like my answer......perhaps they should phrase their question in the form that will yeild the answer they are truely wanting......as I've correctly answered the given question as phrased numerous times now in this thread. You seem to be wanting to add more to the question than was asked........there is no room for interpretation on your part........the words are typed clearly in the title of this thread. There is nothing to interpret. Why you keep trying to read more into the question than was typed in the post....trying to place hidden/alternate meanings I do not know.
